European Commission — Support for Social Enterprises in North Macedonia

The European Commission (EC) supports social enterprises in North Macedonia through knowledge transfer and mentoring as well as informal education and training activities on issues related to operating a social enterprise. The EC’s grant scheme provides financial support to projects focused on establishment of social enterprises or extension of the scope of work of existing social enterprises. The overall amount made available under this call for proposals is €500 thousand. Eligibility extends to non-profit organizations that have been established for at least 2 years in the Republic of North Macedonia. The application deadline is 20 April 2021. Link

Embassy of Slovak Republic in Tbilisi — Small Grants for Projects in Georgia

SlovakAid supports small-scale projects in various sectors, including food and agriculture, and the sustainable use of natural resources in developing countries. The current call supports local projects in Georgia in accordance with the strategy of the Slovak Republic for development cooperation. The maximum financial support per project is €10 thousand with a maximum project duration of 6-12 months. Eligibility extends to non-profit organizations and local authorities in Georgia. French Agency for Ecological Transition — Mediterranean Climate Change Adaptation Awards

Mediterranean Climate Change Adaptation Awards reward exemplary and concrete actions to adapt to climate change in the Mediterranean. The competition is aimed at local authorities, universities, companies and NGOs (in partnership with a local public stakeholder) which take action and develop solutions to adapt the Mediterranean regions to the changing climate. Selected partners receive tailored support (study tour, meetings with technical and financial partners), invitations to an international workshop (ECCA 2021), and international promotion. University of Nottingham — Postgraduate Excellence Award

The University of Nottingham offers scholarships covering £2 thousand towards full-time masters tuition fees for international students from the Commonwealth and other selected countries in Eastern Europe and Central Asia. Eligible countries include: Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Ukraine and Uzbekistan. Critical Ecosystem Partnership Fund — Biodiversity Conservation in the Mediterranean Basin (Balkans)

The Critical Ecosystem Partnership Fund (CEPF) invites Letters of Inquiry (LOIs) for small grants (up to US$30 thousand) in support of biodiversity conservation in the Mediterranean Basin. Funding will be provided in support of sustainable management of water catchments/freshwater biodiversity and cultural landscapes in Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, and North Macedonia. LEAP-RE — Joint Europe-Africa Call on Renewable Energy

The Long-term Europe-Africa Partnership on Renewable Energy (LEAP-RE) program aims to increase the use of renewable energy via research, demonstration, and technology transfer projects in both continents. LEAP-RE funds joint basic research, applied research and experimental development projects with a duration of 12-36 months. The call for proposals is aimed at actors in the renewable energy value chain (including universities, research institutes, companies, private sector, NGOs and public authorities). Cargill — Cargill Global Scholars Program 2021

The agribusiness company Cargill offers scholarships to university students interested in food security, agriculture, and risk management. Applicants must be citizens or permanent residents of Brazil, China, India, Indonesia, Russia, or the USA — and attend university in those countries. Each Cargill Global Scholar receives an annual scholarship for up to two years, as well as opportunities for leadership training and networking. The application deadlines are 04 March 2021 for India; 04 March 2021 for applicants in the USA; 31 March 2021 for Russia; 27 April 2021 for China; 26 May 2021 for Brazil; and 04 June 2021 for Indonesia. MarTERA — Transnational Research and Innovation Projects

MarTERA provides funding to collaborative research and innovation projects. The call identifies the following priority areas: (1) environmentally friendly maritime technologies; (2) innovative concepts for ships and offshore structures; (3) automation, sensors, monitoring and observations; (4) advanced manufacturing and production, (5) safety and security. Applicants from Belarus, Belgium, Germany, Malta, Norway, Poland, Romania, South Africa, and Turkey are eligible for funding. The transnational call has a budget of €8.5 million. European Union — Investments in Primary Agricultural Production

The European Union announces investments in primary agricultural production in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) with the aim of achieving sustainable agriculture. The call supports rural development related to agriculture and recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic. The maximum grant amount is BAM 200 thousand per applicant. Eligibility is limited to individuals, entrepreneurs and agricultural cooperatives/enterprises registered in BiH. The application deadline is 15 February 2021. Link to EU4AGRI

Nordic Council of Ministers — Arctic Cooperation Program

The Arctic Cooperation Program aims to create sustainable and constructive development in the Arctic. The Nordic Council of Ministers will financially contribute to several sustainable development projects in the Arctic region. As a general rule, three Nordic countries must be involved in a co-operation project. A partnership can be supplemented with one or more other Arctic states (USA, Canada and Russia), but the lead applicant has to be from a Nordic country.
