Africa-Europe Innovation Partnership — Cleantech Challenge

The Africa-Europe Innovation Partnership, funded by the European Commission, aims to connect high-quality tech hubs from both continents to explore opportunities for mutually beneficial partnerships. The Cleantech Challenge seeks startups from Africa and Europe in the clean energy sector with the aim to match African and European startups to co-create complementary innovative clean energy solutions. European Union — European Researchers’ Night

The European Researchers’ Night is a Europe-wide public and media event for the promotion of research careers. Established researchers have the opportunity to showcase the diversity of science and to stimulate interest in research careers among young people. Legal entities, such as research organizations, companies, public authorities, schools, science museums, foundations or the media from an EU Member State or Associated Country can apply to host an event for researchers’ night. Events and actions that target climate and environmental-related challenges are especially welcome. The European Commission offers funding that covers any expenses linked to the organization of the research outreach event. The deadline for submission of applications is 12 January 2021. Lithuanian Development Cooperation — Development Cooperation Projects 2021

Lithuanian Development Cooperation makes grants to fund projects in developing partner countries. Submitted project applications must conform to the multilateral and/or bilateral strategic agreements between partner countries in Eastern Europe (detailed in the announcement), this includes environmental protection and sustainable agriculture technologies, among other thematic areas. Project applications worth less than €15 thousand should be primarily submitted to the diplomatic missions of Lithuania. Deadline for the submission of project applications is 03 November 2020. InVivo Group — AgFood Climate Change Challenges

InVivo’s Quest Competition seeks technological and ecological innovations to answer to climate change challenges in the AgFood industry. The competition is open to start-ups which already have a commercialized product or service with technology focus. The current 4th Quest is open to businesses in Europe, divided into 7 geographical areas. The laureate of each geographical area will earn a “business connexions” pack including consulting from leading agfood companies and a two day stay in Paris, including lunch with the InVivo Executive Committee. Canada Fund for Local Initiatives — Environment and Climate Action in Belarus

The Canada Fund for Local Initiatives (CFLI) invites proposals that meet the needs of local communities in Belarus. CFLI provides funding to projects that implement environment and climate action focusing on adaptation and mitigation, and water management, among other thematic priorities. The average contribution is C$20 thousand to C$25 thousand per project. Eligibility extends to community organizations, non-profit organizations, local governments, academic institutions, and international non-profit organizations. International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis — Grant Fund for Capacity Building of Young Scientists

The International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis (IIASA) funds research projects of young scientists in the areas of conservation of wildlife and ecosystems in the Asia-Pacific region (including South and Southeast Asia). Applicants must be less than 40 years old and work or study full-time in a university or research institution. The Project Coordinator is requested to have teaching and/or working experience at a Japanese university or research institution. The maximum grant size is ¥1,5 million per project. Government of India — Call for Research and Development Projects

The BRICS Young Scientist Forum seeks to strengthen existing bilateral and multilateral relations as well as cooperation among its member countries Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa. BRICS invites proposals from young scientists with projects in the thematic areas Ecology, Materials Science, and Artificial Intelligence for the 5th BRICS-YSF Conclave in Russia. All participants will have the opportunity to attend the activities of Science Communication Program. The program is open to scientists, engineers, technologists, innovators, science journalists, science professionals and researchers. Cartier Women’s Initiative Awards — Edition 2021

Cartier supports women entrepreneurs who lead social enterprises in their early phases that have potential to grow significantly. Cartier reviews applications from Latin America, North America, Europe, Sub-Saharan Africa, the Middle East & North Africa, and the Asia-Pacific region. Previous laureates have included several whose work links to environment and related issues, e.g., product recycling, low-cost energy, water treatment, fair trade, and others. Each of the selected women entrepreneurs receives a cash prize of US$100 thousand, networking and visibility opportunities, and business coaching. The closing date for applications is 31 July 2020. International Water Center — International Masters Scholarships (Integrated Water Management)

Australia’s International Water Center announces funding for international candidates accepted into the Master of Integrated Water Management in Australia. Two scholarships will cover full tuition and living expenses of up to AU$95,564 (Type A Scholarship), and a third will cover full tuition of up to AU$58,989 (Type B Scholarship). Applications are invited from eligible countries in Asia-Pacific; Africa; Latin America and Caribbean; the Middle East; Europe; and North America. British Council — Research Workshops between the UK and Russia

The Researcher Links Workshops bring together early-career researchers from the UK and Russia to allow them to make international connections that can improve the quality of their research. The current call is for bilateral workshops of 3-4 days. The maximum funding per workshop in the UK/Russia is £51,940. Proposals must be joint applications by non-profit organizations, with one coordinator based at a UK institution and one based in Russia. The application deadline is 12 June 2020.
