World Wide Fund For Nature — Prince Bernhard Scholarships for Nature Conservation 2018

WWF supports professional training and formal studies of individuals working in disciplines directly relevant to nature conservation. Eligibility extends to mid-career nationals from Africa; Asia and Pacific; Latin America and Caribbean; Eastern Europe; and the Middle East. The maximum grant is CHF 10 thousand for studies or training lasting one year or less. The deadline for applications (English, French, Spanish) is 01 January 2018. About the scholarships

Interreg Baltic Sea Region — Sustainable Baltic Sea

Interreg Baltic Sea Region financially supports transnational projects contributing to the development of a more sustainable Baltic Sea region. The third call for project applications focusses on three thematic fields: (1) capacity for innovation; (2) management of natural resources; and (3) sustainable transport. The Programme area covers eight EU Member States (Denmark, Estonia, Finland, parts of Germany, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Sweden) and three partner countries (Belarus, Norway and parts of Russia). There is a total of €18.5 million of funding available for natural resources projects. Project ideas have to be submitted by 15 January 2018. Know more

Water Joint Programming Initiative — Water Resource Management

The Water JPI aims to enable transnational, collaborative research, development and innovation projects addressing questions relating to water challenges. Proposals are invited on the topic “Water resource management in support of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals”. Only proposals submitted by transnational consortia will be eligible (each consortium must be composed of at least a minimum of three eligible partners from three different countries). Eligibility extends to universities, public research institutions, private non-profit organisations, and private companies. The requested budget per proposal must not exceed € 1.5 million. Netherlands Fellowship Program — KOP Funding for Short Courses

The Netherlands Fellowship Program has started a new phase under the name KOP (Kennisontwikkelings programma). The first round of KOP offers scholarships for short courses in the Netherlands to applicants from the following countries: Albania, Armenia, Bhutan, Bolivia, Burkina Faso, Cambodia, Cuba, Djibouti, Dem Rep Congo, Georgia, India, Jordan, Lebanon, Macedonia, Mongolia, Nepal, Nicaragua, Nigeria, Pakistan, Peru, Philippines, Senegal, Somalia, Sri Lanka, Sudan, Surinam, Thailand, and Zimbabwe. The subject areas for short courses include many in agriculture and environment, among others. Applicants in participating countries study the course database to find short courses eligible for scholarships. The profile of each course identifies the application deadline and how to apply to the Dutch university, including contact information.  For candidates that are selected, the Dutch university submits the application for KOP scholarships. European Commission — Support for Fisheries in Albania

The EC announces funding to assist Albania to develop the capacity of its fishery administration to design, implement, enforce, and monitor the relevant policy measures and regulations.  Besides support to the fishery administration, the action includes the design and implementation of an investment grant scheme to the fishing fleet to improve its efficiency.  Eligibility for funding extends to government departments and other public bodies in EU member countries related to fishing. British Council — Researcher Links Workshops, UK/Russia

Researcher Links Workshops bring together early-career researchers from the UK and a partner country to make international connections that can improve the quality of their research. There will be nine awards in total under this call – five awards for workshops in Russia, and four for workshops in the UK. All workshops must be held in 2018. Each proposal must have one Principal Applicant from the UK and one Principal Applicant from Russia. The submission deadline is 19 September 2017.  Link

European Commission — IC4WATER

Funded through Horizon 2020, the joint program “IC4WATER” aims to promote transnational and transdisciplinary research on sustainable management of water resources in support of the UN Sustainable Development Goals. The 2017 Joint Call is funded by 13 organizations in 13 countries, including organizations in the following developing and emerging economies: Argentina, Brazil, Egypt, Moldova, South Africa, and Vietnam. Consortia should include a minimum of three eligible partners that request funding from three different participating countries. The application period for pre-proposals is 30 August through 02 November 2017. Link

CRDF Global — Agricultural Research, Ukraine and USA

The 2017 U.S.-Ukraine Agricultural Research Competition welcomes proposals on sustainable farming practices and agricultural biotechnology. Proposals are invited from all areas of the natural sciences and engineering (biology, chemistry, earth sciences, engineering, mathematics, and physics) as they relate to basic and non-commercial applied agricultural research in the two topic areas. Awards are up to US$107 thousand for one year. Applicants should submit their title and abstract by 14 July 2017. The application deadline for full proposals is 31 July 2017. Link

European Bank for Reconstruction and Development — Central European Initiative, Know-How Exchange 2017

The Know-how Exchange Program co-finances the transfer of know-how and best practices from EU to non-EU member countries of the Central European Initiative (CEI). Thematic areas in the current call by KEP-Italy include energy, environment, and agriculture and rural development (among others). Proposals are submitted by organizations in CEI member states which are also member states of the European Union for knowledge transfers to non-EU member states of the CEI. The non-EU members of the CEI are Albania, Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Macedonia, Moldova, Montenegro, Serbia, and Ukraine. The maximum grant is €40 thousand.  The closing date for expressions of interest is 29 June 2017. Link

Social Entrepreneurship Impact & Finance — Awards for Social Enterprise 2017

Social Entrepreneurship Impact & Finance (seif) supports individuals and teams that apply innovative business ideas to address current social and/or environmental problems. Categories include agriculture; food and nutrition; environment; energy; water and sanitation; and others. The competition is open to social enterprises from all over Europe. The program will make four awards of CHF 10 thousand each. The application deadline is 30 June 2017. Link
