Marion Dönhoff Foundation — Environment and Sustainability

Through the Succow Foundation, the Marion Dönhoff Grant supports open and critical debates in the areas of environmental journalism, political ecology, and sustainable development. The program is a fellowship for post-graduates with professional experience and activists of civil society networks and groups. The target regions are post-soviet states, including the South Caucasus and Central Asia. The fellowship funds a study and work visit in Germany for up to five months. Applications are accepted twice each year. Applications should be submitted on 01 July and 01 January of each year. Find out more

Prince Claus Fund — Support for Emerging Artists

The Seed Awards offer support to emerging artists and cultural practitioners who use the power of culture for positive change. Each award recipient will receive an award of €5000 to invest in developing their idea. Applicants must live and work in eligible countries in Africa, Asia, Latin America, the Caribbean, or Eastern Europe. The deadline for submission is 16 January 2024. Prince Claus Seed Awards

IWW Zentrum Wasser — Mülheim Water Award

The Mülheim Water Award honors practice-oriented research and development projects as well as the implementation of innovative concepts for a secure drinking water supply and water analysis. People or institutions from Europe (geographically defined, not politically) can apply with innovative procedures, products, concepts and new findings with a strong focus on practical use and application within water management. Heinrich Böll Foundation — University Studies in Germany 2024

The Heinrich Böll Foundation annually funds graduate and doctoral students across all subjects and nationalities for university studies in Germany. Preference is for applicants working in the subject areas of the Foundation such as climate and energy, resource governance, and ecology and green development (among others). The special focus regions for international students are Central and Eastern Europe; EU neighborhood countries and the CIS; the Middle East and North Africa; transition and newly industrialized countries; and conflict regions worldwide. EuroNatur Service GmbH — Photo Competition

The EuroNatur Photo Competition seeks great wildlife and landscape photographs. Amateur and professional photographers are invited to submit impressive pictures of the many facets of Europe’s natural world. The winning photos will be published in the large-format EuroNatur wall calendar and will be awarded with money prizes. The submission deadline for photos is 31 March 2024. Know more

Union for the Mediterranean — Project Implementation Support

The Union for the Mediterranean (UfM) does not fund the implementation of the projects but it assists project development, the search for financial resources, and the search for political and technical support needed for project implementation. UfM promotes a wide range of projects in the Mediterranean region in subject areas that include energy and climate, water, environment, blue economy, and several others. European Union — European Exchange Program for Entrepreneurs

Erasmus for Young Entrepreneurs is a cross-border exchange program for aspiring entrepreneurs. New entrepreneurs will benefit from on-the-job training in a small or medium-sized enterprise in another participating country. The program provides practical and financial assistance, and matches entrepreneurs with experienced hosts. Applications are accepted from both, host entrepreneurs (HEs) – ideally owners of a micro or small enterprise – and new entrepreneurs (NEs) in their early stages. Participating NEs will receive financial support for travel, living and subsistence costs during the visit. Applications are accepted from permanent residents in one of 28 EU Member States, Albania, Armenia, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Macedonia, Iceland, Montenegro, Moldova, Serbia, Turkey, Ukraine and Kosovo. Restore4Life — Wetland Restoration in Europe

Restore4Life provides scientific and technical support for the implementation of wetland restoration solutions in Europe. Each associated region can apply for up to €100 thousand in project support. Eligibility extends to local and/or regional authorities from EU Member States and associated countries to the Horizon Europe Program. Applications can be submitted from 01 February to 29 May 2024. UN Global Compact — Young SDG Innovators Program

The Young SDG Innovators Program is an accelerator program for future business leaders and changemakers to develop and drive innovative SDG solutions through new technologies, initiatives, and business models. Participants participate in online and in-person workshops, case studies, company visits and forum discussions. Companies based in Brazil, China, Kenya, Mexico, South Africa, Ukraine, United Kingdom or the United States have the opportunity to collaborate with their Global Compact Local Networks to nominate young professionals for the program. EIT Climate-KIC — Sustainable Cities Mobility Challenge

EIT Climate-KIC seeks to decarbonise transport, improve local air quality and accelerate electric mobility in European cities. The call aims to support the transition to cleaner, greener, and more people-centered transport, in line with the objectives of the European Green Deal. Cities and towns (with a population of at least 25,000) in the EU Member States, Horizon Europe Associated Countries (including the United Kingdom) and Switzerland are eligible to apply.
