Swedish Institute — Academic Collaboration in the Baltic Sea Region

The Swedish Institute offers funding to Swedish universities, for projects together with their partners in Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova, Russia and Ukraine. The aim is to strengthen the capacity for internationalization within higher education and research. The program offers two types of project funding, Seed Funding of SEK 100-300 thousand for projects with a duration of up to 12 months, and Collaboration Funding of up to SEK 1 million for the duration of 18 months. ChangemakerXchange — Climate Action Summit

ChangemakerXchange launches a global intersectional climate action program that supports the world’s leading climate action changemakers and activists from different regions. In 2022, there will be three in-person summits and a follow-up community and capacity-building program in Europe, MENA, and North America. Applicants must come from or be currently living in one of the eligible countries and be aged 18 – 35. Participants are asked to cover their own transportation costs. International RiverFoundation — European Riverprize

The European Riverprize invites applications from any organization or partnership who has achieved remarkable outcomes for rivers, river basins and their communities. The winner will receive the cash prize and trophy. Organizations, or groups of organizations, responsible for their river and involved in river management, restoration and/or protection can enter the competition. European Commission — Optimize Farming and Forestry in North Macedonia

The European Commission (EC) seeks to modernize and optimize farming and forestry through provision of support to modernization and innovative management in the agricultural sector. EC will fund projects and business operations of entities active in the agricultural, forestry and agri-food industry, as well as activities to promote cooperation between farmers in order to establish producers’ organizations and co-operatives. Applicants can request up to €450 thousand in funding. Eligibility extends to non-profit organizations legally established in North Macedonia. The application deadline is 18 July 2022. Know more

Slovak Republic — Small Grants for Projects in the Ukraine

SlovakAid supports small-scale projects in various sectors, including the sustainable use of natural resources. This includes projects with focus on drinking water supply, wastewater treatment, raising environmental awareness, alternative energy sources, increasing resilience to natural disasters, including climate change, soil protection, halting the loss of biodiversity, protecting ecosystems, and restoring degraded ecosystems. The current call supports local projects in the Ukraine in accordance with the Strategy of the Slovak Republic for International Development Cooperation. The maximum financial support per project is €10 thousand with a maximum project duration of 6-12 months. Eligibility extends to non-profit organizations and local authorities in the Ukraine. InnoEnergy seeks businesses with innovative ideas and technologies in sustainable energy. InnoEnergy invests in European businesses (including Eastern Europe) and helps develop innovative products, services, and solutions that have high commercial potential. United States Agency for International Development — Energy Transition

The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) seeks applications for a cooperative agreement to implement the Just and Secure Energy Transition (J-SET) activity. J-SET supports utilities, regulatory agencies, and energy sector stakeholders in the Europe and Eurasia region in progressing through the clean energy transition. USAID intends to provide US$20 million in total funding over a five year period. USAID welcomes applications from non-profit as well as for-profit organizations. Government of Norway — Small Grants Program on Plastic Waste

The Small Grant Program on Plastic Waste seeks to improve the management of plastic waste and contribute towards preventing and significantly reducing marine pollution. The Program seeks to identify and implement low-cost high impact pilot projects on the ground. Selected projects will seek to enhance capacities in partner countries to implement and enforce the Basel Convention and manage plastic waste in an environmentally sound manner. Budgets range from US$65 thousand to US$180 thousand. The projects will benefit countries in Asia-Pacific, Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean, and Central and Eastern Europe. Save Our Species — Threatened Species Grants Sturgeons

IUCN Save Our Species (SOS) aims to support on-the-ground conservation actions with the goal of improving the status of threatened sturgeon species and their habitats in the Black Sea basin. The goal is to enable and support conservation projects that can apply sustainable conservation measures to protect threatened sturgeon species, their habitats and to improve the livelihoods of the people who depend on them. Grants range from CHF50 thousand to CHF150 thousand. SOS requires matching resources in relation to grant size. Applications are open to non-profit local or national civil society organizations, international organizations and university/research institutions. European Commission — Youth4Regions Program for Aspiring Journalists

The Youth4Regions Program offers young aspiring journalists the chance to find out what the EU is doing in their region (the EU policy covers topics such as climate change, conservation, and sustainable development). Selected participants will receive mentorship from established journalists in their home country and have the opportunity to take part as a journalist in European Commission press trips to Member States. Accommodation and travel expenses are covered by the European Commission. Applicants must be citizens of a current EU, EU candidate or neighboring country, be between 18 and 30 years old, and have a background in journalism (applications from students are being accepted).
