UNIDO and the Energy Academy Europe (EAE) are organizing a training course for professionals to address key issues relating to sustainable energy. Participation is open to mid-level professionals from emerging and developing countries with expertise in industrial development, energy and environment, and other relevant fields. The 8-day course will provide participants the opportunity to familiarize themselves with trends in sustainable energy solutions. Innovate UK and the Guangdong Department of Science and Technology seek to support innovative urban solutions in Guangdong province, China. The themes include smart platforms for sustainable urban environments, as well as others. Total project costs can range from £350 thousand to £500 thousand for projects of up to two years. The Qatar National Research Fund, in collaboration with UK partners, is launching the Qatar-UK Research Networking Programme. The joint programme is designed to support the participation of early-career researchers in workshops focusing on building links for future collaboration between Qatar and the UK. CRDF Global — Travel Grants for U.S. Early-Career Scientists
CRDF Global announces the 2017 Catalyzing New Research Partnerships Program. The program aims to catalyze new international research collaborations for U.S. early-career scientists with partners in South and Southeastern Asia; Latin America: and West Africa. The subject areas of interest are biological sciences; geosciences; and others. CRDF will make travel grants up to US$10 thousand for U.S. early-career scientists residing and working in the USA to lay the foundation for new international research partnerships in the priority regions. Canadian International Development Research Center — Building African Capacity to Address Climate Change
The Africa Climate Leadership Program (AfriCLP) awards training fellowships to build leadership capacity in Africa in response to climate change. Funded by Canada’s IDRC, the program is managed by the University of Nairobi and the Institute of Resource Assessment at the University of Dar es Salaam. The program is open to mid-level and senior researchers who have the potential to become leaders in their field. United Nations Global Pulse — Big Ideas to Combat Climate Change in Asia
UN Global Pulse is partnering with the Republic of Korea to sponsor a Big Ideas Competition focusing on data-driven ideas to monitor climate-related indicators in the Asia-Pacific region. This regional programme is designed to discover innovators and strengthen new innovations from Southeast Asia. Initiatives by participant teams have ranged from waste management, agriculture, and environment — among others. Clean Energy Wire CLEW is offering grants for collaborative media teams on stories with international significance.
