Participants can submit their pictures into five different categories: Cities and Nature; Landscape; People and Nature; Water; and Wildlife. Winners will receive gift cards and equipment. U.S Agency for International Development — Locally Led Development Initiative LAC
The Locally Led Development Initiative seeks to increase sustainability and impact in the areas of regional environmental and sustainable growth; women’s empowerment, and climate change. Concept notes should propose programs implemented in two or more of the following Amazon Basin countries: Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, Guyana, Peru, and Suriname. Funding ranges from US$250 thousand to US$2.5 million. USAID welcomes concepts from local and regional entities who have a solid understanding of the development challenges facing their communities. Brevard Zoo — Grants for Wildlife Conservation
The Brevard Zoo Conservation Fund supports projects that incorporate the community, education and wildlife conservation. The Fund is sustained through the Quarters for Conservation program which is a small surcharge from each general admission to the zoo. Each year, four wildlife conservation organizations are highlighted for an entire year at the Quarters for Conservation voting station. The four organizations selected will receive US$25 thousand, plus bonus donations based on guest voting. Applicants must be a non-profit wildlife conservation organization. Earth Journalism Network — Training: Investigate Environmental Crimes
The Earth Journalism Network (EJN) trains selected journalists in East Africa on techniques to investigate money laundering, fraud, bribery and corruption, trace assets, underground money movements and illicit payment methods. Applicants can be from Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda or South Sudan. Applications are open to journalists working in any medium (online, print, television, radio). The Azimuth World Foundation funds projects by grassroots Indigenous Peoples and Local Communities-led organizations aiming to improve access to health and to save water. The maximum grant amount is US$25 thousand. To be eligible for funding, organizations must have a USA tax-exempt status (501 (c)(3)) or a Fiscal Sponsor. InfoNile — University Science Communication Competition for Africa
InfoNile has organized a science communication competition that aims to engage university students in Africa to understand the critical role of conserving swamps and their biodiversity. The competition aims to foster environmental awareness and empower young scientists and conservationists in Africa to take action for swamps. Eligibility extends to teams of 2-3 university students, one from communication or journalism and a science student.
