Rome MED Dialogues — Youth-led Policy Lab

The  Youth Policy Lab supports youth-led climate solutions in the Mediterranean by showcasing innovative ideas globally. Selected participants will draft actionable policies shared with high-level policymakers at the 2023 Rome MED Dialogues and potentially presented at the UN Climate Change Conference of Parties (COP28). Eligibility to participate extends to young experts, scholars, and students from North Africa, Middle East, or Europe. Applications are open until 01 September 2023. Youth-led Policy Lab

Hystra — Wood Energy Sahel

Bois Énergie Sahel aims to increase the rate of equipment and use of Clean and Efficient Cooking in major urban centers in Niger, Mali and Burkina Faso. The program supports companies in distribution, marketing and the financing of clan cooking equipment and biofuels. The call is open to private for-profit companies and non-profit organizations. Morris Animal Foundation — Wildlife First Award

The Morris Animal Foundation makes grants to assist early career researchers in establishing a successful research program. The maximum duration of a First Award is 24 months, and the total budget cannot exceed US$120 thousand. The applicant must have completed a PhD and have a permanent position in a university, accredited zoo or conservation organization, or other non-academic equivalent. Lemonaid & ChariTea Foundation — Sustainable Livelihoods

The Lemonaid & ChariTea Foundation supports entrepreneurial and income-generating initiatives that provide access to independent, self-determined and sustainable livelihoods. Funding is to local organizations that implement projects for positive change and economic independence in their communities. Amounts between €10-50 thousand per calendar year can be funded. The maximum project duration is three years. The applicant must be recognized as a non-profit organization in Sri Lanka. The deadline for submitting applications is 15 September 2023. Details here

ETH Zurich — Research Partnership Grants Asia

The Research Partnership Grants support research projects with collaborating institutions in China, Japan, South Korea, and ASEAN member states. Researchers may request a total of CHF25 thousand to conduct feasibility studies or pilot projects in order to apply for grants from larger funding agencies. The grant builds on existing collaborations between researchers and scientists affiliated to a Swiss institution. The call is open to all scientific disciplines and fields of research, including social sciences and humanities. ETH Zurich — Research & Seed Grants

ETH for Development (ETH4D) Seed Grants provide a small funding to explore new collaborations or  pilot new applied research projects in low- and lower-middle income countries. Research Challenges enable collaborations on project-​based research between ETH researchers, non-​academic partners and partners to develop effective solutions for poverty reduction. Funding of up to CHF 200 thousand is available. The main applicant has to be an ETH professor or researcher. Applications are open until 30 September 2023. ETH Research & Seed Grants

International Centre for development oriented Research in Agriculture — International Courses for Agricultural Professionals 2023

ICRA supports education and capacity strengthening in agriculture and the rural sector in the developing world. ICRA offers specialized training courses for agricultural professionals each year. ICRA’s courses qualify for OKP/MSP scholarships funded by the Dutch government. Each scholarship program has separate application deadlines. Netherlands Organization for International Cooperation in Higher Education — MENA Scholarships

The Middle East and North Africa (MENA) Scholarship Program offers scholarships to professionals from ten MENA countries for short courses of two to twelve weeks in the Netherlands. Subject areas include agriculture, environment, and many others. NUFFIC supports professionals up to age 45 who are nationals of and working in one of the following countries: Algeria, Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, Libya, Mauritania, Morocco, Oman, and Tunisia. (Note: MSP is not currently open to professionals applying from Sudan.) Potentially interested individuals review the courses and dates offered by the participating Dutch higher education institutions, and information about how to apply. Eramet — Innovations in Water Management for Mining and Metals Industry

The Eramet Water Resource Innovation Challenge 2023 seeks innovations in water management for mining and metals industries. The innovation challenge aims to minimize the industry’s environmental impact while also ensuring access to valuable resources. Start-ups and SMEs from around the world are invited to propose innovative technologies or products that address key water challenges of the mining and metals industry to protect water resources. The winning business will receive €50 thousand to test and deploy their solution. The call for applications is open until 13 September 2023. Know more

Global Biodiversity Information Facility — Data Papers on Soil Biodiversity

The Global Biodiversity Information Facility (GBIF) announces a new call for authors to submit and publish data papers on soil biodiversity. Papers will be published in a special collection of Biodiversity Data Journal. The publisher Pensoft will waive the article processing fee (normally €650) for the first 40 accepted data paper manuscripts. The deadline to receive proposals is 22 September 2023.
