Fast Forward — Tech Accelerator

The Fast Forward invites applications for the 2025 Accelerator Program to support and scale tech nonprofits. Tech innovations may include agri-tech or clean energy, among others. Selected entrepreneurs receive a US$25 thousand grant, mentorship, and connections to people who can help their innovation scale. The accelerator is open to tech nonprofits from around the world. Scientific Committee on Antarctic Research — Visiting Scholar

The Scientific Committee on Antarctic Research (SCAR) provides visiting scholarships to mid- to late-career stage scientists and academics involved in Antarctic research. Scholars can undertake short-term visits (up to 4 weeks) to an institute in another SCAR member country, to provide training and mentoring. Charity Entrepreneurship — Incubation Program on How to Start a Charity

Charity Entrepreneurship accepts applications for a two-month, fully cost-covered boot camp open to individuals who want to create, start, and operate an effective charity. The Incubation Program covers management, fundraising, impact analysis, and hands-on knowledge of established non-profit organizations. New organizations will receive seed grants of up to US$200 thousand in addition to legal support, and connections to donors, mentors, and potential employees. Institute of International Education — Carnegie African Diaspora Fellowships

The Carnegie African Diaspora Fellowship Program offers short-term fellowships to African-born academics at universities in the USA and Canada to collaborate with African universities in research, curriculum co-development, and/or graduate student training. Project requests to host scholars are submitted by universities and other higher education institutions in Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria, South Africa, Tanzania, and Uganda. Past scholars in the program have included several in agriculture, environment, and related disciplines. Scholar applications must be submitted before 18 September 2024. Link

International Tropical Timber Organization — Freezailah Fellowships 2024

The International Tropical Timber Organization (ITTO) makes grants through the Freezailah Fellowship Fund in support of capacity building. The grant can be used for training opportunities, demonstration tours, participation in conferences and workshops, preparation of technical papers, and post-graduate degrees. Grants up to US$10 thousand are in support of sustainable tropical forest management. Applicants are young and mid-career professionals in ITTO’s member countries; most grants are to individuals in developing countries. The next application deadline is 02 September 2024. Quadrature Climate Foundation — Climate Change AI

Quadrature Climate Foundation, Google DeepMind, and Global Methane Hub announce funding for projects at the intersection of AI and climate change. The aim is to create Artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) solutions that can help support climate change mitigation and adaptation, as well as climate science, across many different areas, for example, energy, agriculture, forestry, climate modeling, and disaster response. Climate Change AI Innovation Grants will provide up to US$150 thousand per proposal, for projects of 12 months in duration. Embassy of the Czech Republic — Small-Scale Development Projects 2024

The Embassy of the Czech Republic in Pretoria launches its annual call for proposals for Small Scale Development Projects. The call concerns all countries accredited to the Embassy: South Africa, Angola, Botswana, Eswatini, Madagascar, Mauritius, Mozambique, Lesotho, and Namibia. Projects and development activities providing materials or equipment, training, or capacity-building in the fields of sustainable management of natural resources, agriculture, and economic transformation (including renewable energy) are welcome. The Czech Republic will provide up to CZK 500 thousand per project. Non-profit organizations, educational institutions, or community groups are welcome to apply. International Atomic Energy Agency — Marie Sklodowska-Curie Fellowship Program

The Marie Sklodowska-Curie Fellowship Program (MSCFP) aims to help increase the number of women in the nuclear field and drive global scientific and technological innovation. Selected students receive a scholarship for Master’s programs in nuclear-related studies. They are also provided with an opportunity to pursue an internship facilitated by the IAEA for up to 12 months. Female scientists from all around the world are invited to apply. One World Media — Climate and Labor Film Grant

One World Media seeks experienced filmmakers who want to explore, through a short documentary, how climate change is affecting lives and work in the Global South. The film needs to be 25 minutes or less and be completed by June 2025. The successful filmmaker will receive up to £20 thousand in funding for their film. Beyond the Grid Fund for Africa — Off-Grid Energy

Beyond the Grid Fund for Africa (BGFA) aims to incentivize private off-grid energy service companies to scale up their innovative sustainable businesses and accelerate access to affordable and clean off-grid energy in Mozambique. The BGFA invites off-grid energy companies to submit proposals for clean and affordable energy solutions in peri-urban and rural areas. Grants are expected to be between €1 million and €2 million, depending on the country. The application process is divided into two stages: (1) Pre-Qualification and (2) Final Application.
