PNG-Australia Partnership — Off-Grid Electrification Program Papua New Guinea

The PNG-Australia Off-Grid Electrification Program (Pawarim Komuniti) supports access to clean energy in rural and remote communities in Papua New Guinea. The Program will support local off-grid energy solutions such as solar home systems, and others, to provide rural households, community service facilities and businesses with affordable access to clean energy. Selected organisations will receive funding in the amount of between PGK250 thousand and PGK3 million. Pawarim Komuniti will accept proposals from legally registered national or international private companies and NGOs eligible to work in Papua New Guinea. Nigeria Energy Forum — Africa Energy Innovation Competition 2020

NEF invites applications for the 5th Africa Energy Ideas Competition which aims to accelerate the development of early-stage energy firms across Africa. The competition is open to early-stage energy entrepreneurs from Africa to collaborate with local research institutions or industries. Young professionals between the ages of 18 and 35 years from Africa are invited to participate and nominate a relevant local research institution or organization. Winners will pitch their proposed prototype model at the 2020 Nigeria Energy Forum, in Lagos (Nigeria) and a cash prize of up to $5 thousand. The deadline for proposal submission is 30 January 2020. Rockefeller Foundation — Food System Vision Prize

The Rockefeller Foundation invites organizations across the globe to develop and submit their vision of a regenerative and nourishing food system. Project ideas must tackle global problems, including overpopulation, climate change, or soil, air and water pollution. Selected visionaries will receive US$200 thousand in project funding to help implement their ideas and participate in an accelerator during which they will have access to media and storytelling training. U.S. Agency for International Development — Health, Ecosystems and Agriculture for Resilient, Thriving Societies

The Office of Forestry and Biodiversity in USAID’s Bureau for Economic Growth, Education and Environment seeks transformational solutions to cross-sectoral development challenges in biodiverse landscapes. Sectors that may comprise HEARTH concepts are: biodiversity conservation, health, food security (agriculture and nutrition), governance, economic development and livelihoods, water supply and sanitation, education, modern energy solutions, forest management and restoration, and climate resilience. Eligible priority countries include Brazil, Colombia, Peru, and South America Regional; Democratic Republic of Congo, Kenya, Madagascar, Tanzania, and Central Africa Regional; Indonesia, Papua New Guinea, Philippines, Vietnam and the Regional Development Mission for Asia. UNESCO — World Heritage Volunteers 2020

The UNESCO World Heritage Centre invites applications for the World Heritage Volunteers (WHV) Campaign 2020. The aim of the call is to encourage young people to undertake concrete actions and to play an active role in the protection, preservation and promotion of World Heritage sites. Projects should be organised in immediate connection to a property inscribed on the World Heritage List or a site inscribed on a Tentative List.  Both public or private organisations or institutions from any country are eligible to apply. UNESCO does not provide financial support to organizations, but carries out action camps for the volunteering participants. The closing date for applications is 19 January 2020. Find out more

European Commission — Ocean-Monitoring

The European Commission invites applications for the Ocean-Monitoring call to support the development of ocean energy. The objectives of this call are to increase the amount of environmental data and improve knowledge, to contribute to reducing uncertainty in modelling potential impacts of future ocean energy devices, to provide guidance to ocean energy developers, and to inform stakeholders and help feed the public debate about ocean energy. The Commission  sets a total budget of €2.3 million for this call. EU Member States (including overseas countries and territories) and non-EU countries (applicants established in non-EU countries if their involvement is necessary in view of the nature of the action and in order to achieve its objectives) are eligible to apply. U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) — Resilient Governance in Niger

USAID invites applications to the Resilient Governance in Niger (RGN) Activity. This cooperative agreement for qualified entities aims to improve the service delivery and citizen accountability, stymie community resilience, and increase vulnerability to violent extremism. Themes related to this call include water and sanitation, agriculture, and environmental degradation. Qualified U.S. and non-U.S. organizations (other than those from foreign policy restricted countries) are eligible to apply. The award ceiling is US$19.8 million. The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) seeks applicants to put the Global Feed the Future Agricultural Biotechnology Program into action. The program aims to develop and implement a global program of agricultural biotechnology activities according to specific country and regional priorities. All types of organizations, including public, private, for-profit, or nonprofit organizations, U.S. and non-U.S. governmental organizations, or multilateral or international donor organizations are eligible to apply. Reckitt Benckiser — Lead 2030 Challenge for SDG 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation)

The Lead 2030 Challenge for SDG 6 seeks to increase water-use efficiency within households and drive responsible water usage. The challenge welcomes solutions that educate households (especially in countries and regions at greatest risk to the consequences of water scarcity) and drive innovative ways to reduce water usage through focused behavioral change methods or technological innovation. The winner will receive a US$50 thousand project grant and 12 months of mentorship from a team of RB professionals. The initiative must be youth-led (founded by a person aged 18 – 30). The Lead 2030 Challenge for SDG 12 seeks solutions that address necessary changes required to avoid unnecessary waste production. Projects can focus on alternative solutions for waste streams; retail recycling, consumer behavior, cross-industry collaboration; or the reduction of post-harvest losses. The winner will receive a US$50 thousand project grant and 12 months of mentorship from a team of Mondi Group professionals. The project must be youth-led (founded by a person aged 18 – 30).
