Lemonaid & ChariTea Foundation — Sustainable Livelihoods

The Lemonaid & ChariTea Foundation supports entrepreneurial and income-generating initiatives that provide access to independent, self-determined and sustainable livelihoods. Funding is to local organizations that implement projects for positive change and economic independence in their communities. Amounts between €10-50 thousand per calendar year can be funded. The maximum project duration is three years. The applicant must be recognized as a non-profit organization in Sri Lanka. The deadline for submitting applications is 15 September 2023. Details here

ETH Zurich — Research Partnership Grants Asia

The Research Partnership Grants support research projects with collaborating institutions in China, Japan, South Korea, and ASEAN member states. Researchers may request a total of CHF25 thousand to conduct feasibility studies or pilot projects in order to apply for grants from larger funding agencies. The grant builds on existing collaborations between researchers and scientists affiliated to a Swiss institution. The call is open to all scientific disciplines and fields of research, including social sciences and humanities. Scottish Government — Asia Partnerships Higher Education Research Fund

The Royal Society of Edinburgh (RSE) Scotland Asia Partnerships Higher education Research (SAPHIRE) Fund is available to Scottish universities to enable research to include a focus on environmental issues and climate change. Funding of up to £10 thousand will be provided to support existing research projects in climate research, emissions research, sustainable energy, sustainable agriculture, biodiversity, water and food, and clean water, among others. The scheme is open to Scottish researchers with a partner from either Australia, India, Japan, Pakistan, South Korea, Singapore or the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN). SEED — Replicator Workshop for Eco-Enterprises

The SEED Replicator program offers incubation workshops to identify opportunities for enterprise creation and to guide aspiring entrepreneurs and business owners looking for partnerships to build an eco-inclusive business model. Successful alumni can apply for a SEED Grant which pays for your immediate necessary activities, measures or machinery required to establish the new enterprise. SEED Replicator Program currently invites applications from entrepreneurs in India. Participation is free, although participants need to cover their transportation costs and accommodation. The World Academy of Sciences — Regional Workshop on Science Diplomacy

The Academy of Sciences Malaysia (ASM) and the World Academy of Sciences (TWAS) seek candidates to participate in the regional training workshop on science diplomacy. The workshop is designed for applicants from science and technology lagging countries from South and Central Asia. Netherlands Organization for International Cooperation in Higher Education — Orange Knowledge Program

The Orange Knowledge Program (OKP) makes scholarships to mid-career professionals from selected developing countries for short courses (duration 2 weeks to 12 months) and master’s programs (duration 12-24 months). Eligible countries as well as eligible courses are listed in the announcement. Interested applicants need to first select a course and then contact the education institution of the course and ask how to apply for the scholarship. The application deadline is 05 September 2023. Reversing Environmental Degradation in Africa and Asia — Project Grants

REDAA invites proposals for locally led initiatives to improve evidence, tools, and governance that can help people and nature thrive together in Sub-Saharan Africa, South Asia and Southeast Asia. Successful proposals will receive medium-scale grants between £200 thousand and £500 thousand for research-to-action initiatives lasting two to four years. Applications close 31 July 2023. Global Centre on Biodiversity for Climate — Grant Program

The Global Centre on Biodiversity for Climate (GCBC) funds research into natural solutions to climate change and poverty. The GCBC makes grants that fund research into how the conservation and sustainable use of biodiversity can help address climate change and improve livelihoods of some of the world’s most vulnerable populations. The geographic focus is in Latin America and the Caribbean, Sub-Saharan Africa, Southeast Asia and the Pacific. The application closes 20 July 2023. Climate Grant Program

U.S. Government — Environmental Defenders Capacity Building and Small Grants

The U.S. Government seeks to reduce violence against environmental defenders and protect and advance environmental defenders’ human rights. Applicants must be non-governmental organizations with a track record of working with threatened grassroots environmental defenders. Priority countries include Brazil, Colombia, DRC, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Peru, Philippines, and Vietnam. All projects should aim to have impact that leads to measurable reductions in threats and violence against grassroots organizations. The estimated total program funding is US$4.2 million. U.S. Government — Countering the Illicit Exotic Pet Trade

The project aims to combat wildlife trafficking across Central and South Asia including India, Sri Lanka, Maldives, Bangladesh, Nepal, Bhutan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Turkmenistan. The aim is to increase the capacity and ability of governments to identify, interdict, investigate, and prosecute this illegal trade and dismantle the organized crime networks. Awards range from US$300 thousand to US$600 thousand. Eligibility extends to US-based and foreign non-profit organizations and educational institutions.
