Compassion in World Farming International accepts applications for three different types of grants to organizations who are invested in improving farm animal welfare in Indonesia, Japan or South Korea. Training Grants (US$4,000) to support individuals and organizations in growing their capacity, Organization Development Grants (US$7,000) to establish or expand the ability to advocate for farm animals, and Campaigning Grants (US$9,000) to cover the costs of delivering campaigns which advocate for regional, national or local government action. Applicants may be individuals, charities or non-profit organizations who work within areas such as farm animal advocacy, climate change and environmental protection. Land Accelerator — Restoration of Degraded Forests and Farmland (South Asia)
The Land Accelerator trains and supports entrepreneurs that restore degraded forests and farmland. The program offers an all-virtual business creation and growth accelerator in South Asia. The accelerator is designed for companies that are in the testing phase of taking their product to market. Any business model that is recognized as restoring land is eligible, including, but not limited to smart agriculture, water conservation, agroforestry, tree planting, and beekeeping, forest conservation. Latvian State Education Development Agency — Scholarships 2022/2023
The Latvian State Education Development Agency offers scholarships to foreign students, researchers and teaching staff for studies, research and participation in summer schools in Latvian higher education institutions (HEIs) for the academic year 2022/2023. Study programs include Agriculture, Environmental Science, Forestry, Energy, among others. The scholarship amount varies from €500 to €670 per month, depending on the program. University of Nottingham — Developing Solutions Masters Scholarship 2022
The University of Nottingham provides international scholarships for postgraduate masters courses to nationals of Africa, India, or countries of the Commonwealth. Thematic areas include engineering and sciences. Priority will be given to candidates who have not previously studied outside of their home country. Scholarships are available to cover either 50% or 100% of tuition fees. Students who want to make a difference to the development of their home country are encouraged to apply by 20 May 2022. Flemish Inter-University Council — Scholarships for Master Programs in Flanders
VLIR-UOS is the secretariat of Flemish universities for development cooperation, with funding by Belgian Development Cooperation. VLIR-UOS announces courses at Belgian Flemish universities and university colleges that are eligible for scholarships in 2022/23. They include 1-year masters’ programs, along with training courses lasting from two weeks to three months. Subject areas include aquaculture, marine science, plant breeding, nematology, water resources, rural development, and others. Eligibility for scholarships extends to applicants from developing countries in Southeast Asia, Sub-Saharan Africa, and Latin America. The scholarship amount varies with a maximum support of €58,320. Candidates apply directly to the Flemish universities that offer the programs, requesting scholarship support. U.S. Mission to Pakistan — Addressing Environment Protection and Climate Change to Promote Tourism
The U.S. Consulate announces funding to increase environmental awareness among people in Pakistan and address threats to the local environment and the impact that those threats may have on economic development. The project aims to better equip citizens in the northern areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa with strategies to protect the environment and make the area more attractive to regional and international tourists. The grantee will carry out research on best practices for citizen activism and sustainable environmental tourism, with a particular focus on U.S. best practices. U.S. Department of State — Summit for Young Leaders in Southeast Asia
The Young Southeast Asian Leaders Initiative (YSEALI) is a program of the U.S. government to support bright young leaders from ASEAN countries. The YSEALI Summit 2022 is an assembly of Southeast Asian youths to bring forth science, solutions, and solidarity for a livable future. The Summit “Empowering Technology for a Greener Future” invites YSEALI alumni to join online pre-Summit activities, 3-day workshops, and post-Summit engagements. Five teams will win US$2 thousand each in seed funds. Applicants must be between 18-35 years and citizens of Brunei, Burma, Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Laos, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam, or Timor-Leste. Village Capital seeks small and medium-sized enterprises and startups that are scaling market-based and contextualized solutions to critical climate adaptation and resilience challenges. Participants from Africa and Asia will have access to a one-week intensive virtual training program. Eligibility extends to companies developing or offering products and/or services (ideally technology-enabled) that increase the resilience of target users to the impacts of climate change. Bayer Crop Science — Remote Sensing for Smallholder Farms
Bayer Crop Science seeks satellite-based remote sensing technology providers to help make this technology accessible and affordable to smallholder farmers in Asia. The technology must support these farmers in making the cultivation of their fields more efficient and sustainable. The monetary value of the contract will vary depending on the project. U.S. Mission to Pakistan — Climate Change and Environmental Protection
The U.S. Mission to Pakistan makes grants to establish partnerships between U.S. and Pakistani universities and organizations to build Pakistani capacity to adapt to and mitigate climate change. The U.S. Mission estimates to make three awards between US$200 thousand and US$500 thousand each. The partnerships will facilitate curriculum development, collaborative research, virtual exchanges, sharing of resources, professional development, and exchanges.
