International Development Research Center — Innovations to Improve Livestock Vaccines in Africa and Asia

Canada’s IDRC calls for proposals to support novel ideas or pre-existing innovations to respond to the challenges of existing livestock vaccines in Sub-Saharan Africa and South and Southeast Asia. The research should focus on vaccine improvement for one or more of the eligible livestock diseases identified in the announcement. Eligibility to participate in the call for proposals extends to applicants from research-focused organizations in the private sector, academia, and research institutes anywhere in the world. The program will fund up to six research projects at a maximum of CA$1 million each. The deadline for proposals is 21 March 2017. Link

University of California at Davis — Trellis Fund for Horticulture

With funding provided through the U.S. Agency for International Development, the Trellis Fund makes small grants for horticultural projects in the following countries:  Bangladesh, Cambodia, Ethiopia, Ghana, Guatemala, Haiti, Honduras, Liberia, Malawi, Mozambique, Nepal, Rwanda, Senegal, Tajikistan, Tanzania, Uganda, and Zambia. The maximum funding is US$4 thousand per project. Successful applicants in these countries will be paired with U.S. graduate students that have relevant technical expertise. Bestseller Foundation — Enterprises in Agriculture and Environment

The Bestseller Foundation provides financial support for agricultural value chains and for enterprises based on sustainable environment in Southern and Eastern Africa, China, and India. The foundation invests mainly with commercial actors in for-profit projects by means of loans and equity. Nonprofit organizations and projects may sometimes be eligible if they have clear and commercially viable objectives. In some cases, the Foundation may consider grants or donations. Indo-US Science and Technology Forum — Bhaskara Advanced Solar Energy Fellowships and Internships 2017

The IUSSTF invites Indian applicants to apply for the Bhaskara fellowships and student internships for research on solar energy at reputed scientific/technological institutions in the USA. Preference will be given to research aimed at issues of solar energy in India. Eligibility extends to Indian PhD students and researchers in publicly-funded R&D laboratories, S&T institutions (non-private), and recognized academic institutes in India. Indo-US Science and Technology Forum — SERB Indo-US Postdoctoral Fellowships for Indian Researchers

The IUSSTF invites Indian applicants to apply for the SERB Indo-US Postdoctoral Fellowships. The objective is to introduce Indian scientists and engineers in the early stages of their careers to international collaborative research opportunities. These awards will enable young Indian scientists and technologists of all disciplines, under the age of 35, to interact with the U.S scientific community. The focus areas include bio-energy, energy, science of climate change, glaciology, and several others. The deadline for applications is 28 February 2017. Link

Australian Centre for International Agricultural Research — Grants for Conferences, Workshops, Seminars, and Field Days

ACIAR offers sponsorship assistance to individuals wishing to attend a conference, seminar, workshop or field day that directly benefits agricultural research for development. ACIAR also supports organisations seeking sponsorships for this same objective. The priority is for events and sponsorships in ACIAR partner countries and related to ACIAR projects. However, direct involvement in an ACIAR project is not a prerequisite to apply for funding. The application deadlines are the first Wednesday of April and the last Wednesday of October in each calendar year. Link

Indo-US Science and Technology Forum — Research on Monitoring Water and Air Quality

The IUSSTF invites applications for the “Research Initiative for Real-time River Water and Air Quality Monitoring.”  This initiative aims to develop technologies for sensing, communication, and analysis of large-scale data collected from autonomous networks of perpetual or long-lived sensor nodes, followed by integration and deployment of this information for water and air quality monitoring in real-time.  Indian research groups are encouraged to collaborate with academic counterparts in the USA and/or European Union. Wildlife Conservation Network — Partnership Applications 2017

The WCN supports wildlife projects worldwide, with emphasis on Latin America, Africa, and Asia. WCN invites letters of inquiry from registered nonprofit organizations engaged in wildlife conservation or animal welfare to apply for partnerships. WCN collaborates with its partners for networking, fund raising, and organizational support. The period for letters of inquiry is 15 February 2017 through 15 March 2017. Link
