Flame Tree Initiative — Off-Grid Energy Development Entrepreneurship Lab

Flame Tree Initiative (FTI) provides training, partnerships, and resources to promising African entrepreneurs seeking to create enterprises that address local development challenges. In collaboration with Mzuzu University, FTI invites Malawian entrepreneurs to apply to the Off-Grid Energy Development Entrepreneurship Lab (DELab). The development entrepreneur training program provides capacity building and support to entrepreneurs in the off-grid energy sector. Submissions will be accepted until 20 September 2019. Energy Lab

International Initiative for Impact Evaluation — Bursaries for London International Development Centre Short Course

The International Initiative for Impact Evaluation (3ie) offers three bursaries to support postgraduates and professional staff from low-and-middle-income countries for the London International Development Centre short course “Evaluation: from innovation to impact.” The program will include sessions on quantitative and qualitative research as well as methods and impact evaluations. Pride Lion Conservation Alliance and Colorado State University — Women Conservationists Leadership Workshop

Pride Lion Conservation Alliance and Colorado State University offer a special training as part of Pathways Africa 2020: Human Dimensions of Wildlife Conference and Training (February 2020). The 3-day training workshop is aimed at women conservationists to help strengthen their leadership skills to achieve greater conservation outcomes across Africa. Successful applicants will have their accommodation, meals, and conference registration fully funded. Additional stipends will be available for travel expenses up to US$500. UK Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council — Research Capability Building

BBSRC accepts applications for strategic training awards of up to 12 months in duration to support research capability addressing current global challenges. The purpose of this call is to build a portfolio of sustainable training resources in research priority areas, focusing on sustainable development in developing countries. Focus areas include sustainable energy; clean air, water and sanitation; resilience to long-term environmental change; sustainable marine resources and agriculture, among others. A total of up to £500 thousand is available to support the training activities. GCRF-STARS applications should be co-created and delivered through training partnerships between the UK partner and organisations from developing countries. National Geographic Society — Amazon Conservation Capacity

The National Geographic Society supports projects that empower community-based organizations and Indigenous Peoples groups engaged in forest conservation and sustainable forest management. This call supports the development and implementation of conservation programs, capacity building activities, and networking initiatives focused on achieving conservation objectives. Community projects with focus on ecotourism or climate-smart forest management practices are welcome. Applicants may request up to US$150 thousand. MAN Truck & Bus AG — Support for Social Ventures

The MAN Impact Accelerator seeks social entrepreneurs from Europe, South Africa, and Brazil to tackle social and environmental challenges through innovative solutions in the transport and logistics industry. Social businesses and startups in the key areas agriculture, data analytics (including environmental data), sensors, among others, are invited to apply. The program provides indirect grants and support of up to US$50 thousand (no equity or cash) for each startup. Renewable Energy Solutions for Africa Foundation — Training Course: Deployment of Renewable Energy Solutions

Renewable Energy Solutions for Africa Foundation, in partnership with Enel Foundation, invites applications for the two weeks advanced training course “Deployment of renewable energy solutions: challenges and opportunities” (Italy, November 2019). The course targets professionals serving in public institutions, energy companies, energy centers, universities and research agencies in the Africa Region. 40 selected participants will be awarded the Enel Foundation Scholarship which covers tuition fee, travel and accommodation costs. Nippon Foundation — Overseas Grant Programs

The Nippon Foundation makes its overseas grants to nonprofit organizations based outside of Japan. This refers to local, regional, and international NGOs and other nonprofit organizations, including educational and research institutions. Past projects and education/training include examples in small-scale agriculture and natural resources. There is no minimum or maximum grant size. There is no application deadline. United Nations Development Programme — African Young Women Leaders Fellowship Programme

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), in partnership with the African Union Commission (AUC), invites applications for the African Young Women Leaders Fellowship Programme. The program aims to train and develop the new generation of young African women leaders and experts in designing and implementing development programs in the context of the SDGs and Agenda 2063. A total of 20 women will be selected for a 12-month assignment with UNDP at Headquarters in New York or in a regional or country office. The fellowship will cover expenses related to travel, medical insurance, accommodation, and living costs. Applicants must be nationals of an AU Member State and be under 34 years old. GreenHouse Capital — GreenHouse Lab Accelerator for Female Focused Tech Companies

GreenHouse Lab is a three-month accelerator focused on early-stage technology start-ups across Africa. Participants receive entrepreneurship training, US$100 thousand and access to a global network of mentors and investors. Start-ups must be female-led or female focused.
