Southeast Asian Regional Centre for Tropical Biology — Training Courses, Seminars, and Workshops 2018

The Southeast Asian Regional Centre for Tropical Biology (SEAMO BIOTROP) aims to increase the knowledge and skills of ASEAN professionals and students on a wide range of topics in tropical biology. Unless otherwise indicated, training courses are conducted at the SEAMEO BIOTROP headquarter in Bogor, Indonesia. Priority is for nationals of SEAMEO member countries, especially in the sponsored courses. The remaining BIOTROP courses and seminars for 2018 are scheduled from July through October. DSM — Brighter Living Scholarship

DMS offers 4 scholarships to young leaders from Zambia and Ethiopia, who are working in the field of nutrition to deliver nutritional solutions for their communities. The scholarship seeks candidates who develop/implement programs to eliminate post-harvest losses for small holder farmers, among others. Pulitzer Center & Thomson Reuters — Reporting Land Rights Training for Southern Africa

The Pulitzer Center on Crisis Reporting and the Thomson Reuters Foundation seek participants for a four-day workshop on reporting land rights in Johannesburg, South Africa (30 July – 2 August 2018). Journalists with outstanding story ideas on property rights will receive training, editorial support and limited funding to help them realize their stories. The program will cover airfare, lodging, and subsistence for journalists from Southern African countries. Eastern Africa Farmers Federation — Support for Young Farmers in Africa

The Eastern Africa Farmers Federation in partnership with IFAD calls for innovative ideas from rural youth groups in agriculture and agribusiness related enterprises. Young farmers will receive technical support, mentorship, access to potential funders/investors and other partnership opportunities. European Bank for Reconstruction and Development — Central European Initiative, Know-How Exchange 2018

The Know-how Exchange Program co-finances the transfer of know-how and best practices from EU to non-EU member countries of the Central European Initiative (CEI). Thematic areas in the current call by KEP-Italy include energy, environment, and agriculture and rural development (among others). Proposals are submitted by organizations in CEI member states which are also member states of the European Union for knowledge transfers to non-EU member states of the CEI. The non-EU members of the CEI are Albania, Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Macedonia, Moldova, Montenegro, Serbia, Ukraine. The maximum grant is €40 thousand. U.S. Department of State — YSEALI Academic Fellows

The Young Southeast Asian Leaders Initiative (YSEALI) is a program of the U.S. government to support bright young leaders ages 18-35 in the ASEAN countries. The YSEALI Academic Fellowships offer support to participate in a five-week institute on the campus of a U.S. university or college in one of the following topics: civil engagement; environmental issues; or social entrepreneurship and economic development. The fellowships include leadership development, an educational study tour, local community service activities, and opportunities to engage with peers in the USA. Applications are invited from current undergraduate or graduate students — as well as recent graduates — in Brunei, Burma, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam. Application deadlines vary by country, Cambodia’s application process is currently open with deadline on 29 May 2018. Antipode Foundation — International Workshop Awards

The Antipode Foundation promotes scientific research, education and makes scholarships in the field of radical geography. The International Workshop Awards are intended to support geographers holding events (including conferences, workshops, seminars, summer schools and action research meetings) that further analyses of geographical issues and engender the development of a new and better society. Successful candidates receive up to £10 thousand (or its equivalent in the awardee’s currency of choice). Unilever — Young Entrepreneurs Awards 2018

The Unilever Young Entrepreneurs Awards invite nominations of individuals ages 18 to 35 anywhere in the world who have initiatives, products, or services that address sustainability challenges in four categories. The categories are “farm to table” (sustainable agriculture and food and drink nutrition); opportunities for women; waste management; and water management. The awards will be made to individuals who are putting their ideas into action, i.e., who are already having an impact. Unilever will recognise up to eight winners in 2018, each of whom will be awarded a cash prize in addition to one-to-one mentoring support for a year. The overall winner will receive the “HRH The Prince of Wales Young Sustainability Entrepreneur Prize” of €50 thousand. The deadline for nominations is 30 June 2018. Link

U.S. Department of State — Sustainable Seafood in the Pacific Islands

The U.S. Department of State announces an open competition for organizations to submit applications to support Pacific Islands businesses in the fisheries/seafood sector to adopt sustainable and inclusive practices. The submitted program should leverage U.S. expertise in innovation, entrepreneurship, and investment to empower Pacific Islands businesses. Alice and Global Entrepreneurship Network — Global Pitch Competition for Social Entrepreneurs

Alice and Global Entrepreneurship Network (GEN), along with partners Johnson & Johnson and Dell, invites applications for Pitch with Purpose, a global pitch competition for social enterprises centered around solutions to the achievement of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Three finalists will be invited to pitch live in front of a panel of judges, funders and media in October 2018.
