United States Government — Combat Wildlife Trafficking in Big Cats Species

The United States Department of State seeks to reduce wildlife trafficking and environmental crimes. Therefore, applications are invited from qualified non-governmental organizations (NGOs), educational institutions, and other non-profit qualified organizations for a grant to implement a program to “Combat Trafficking in High Value Wildlife Products from Big Cats”. For the purposes of this NOFO, “big cats” include the following species and all of their subspecies: cheetah (Acinonyx jubatus), jaguar (Panthera onca), leopard (Panthera pardus), lion (Panthera leo), puma (Puma concolor), snow leopard (Panthera uncia), and tiger (Panthera tigris). Government of Canada — Women’s Economic Empowerment in Ghana

The Government of Canada seeks preliminary proposals (stage I) under the Innovation for Women’s Economic Empowerment in Ghana call. (Note: This may include one or more categories of the Terra Viva Grant Directory). Proposals must contribute to the achievement of enhanced economic empowerment, well-being and inclusive economic growth for women in Ghana. Successful pre-proposals will be invited to submit a full project (stage II) and be considered for funding, receiving between $5 million and $10 million over a period of five years. European Commission — Youth Entrepreneurs in Agriculture

The European Union seeks proposals for projects that address challenges and create opportunities for the youth in Swaziland through entrepreneurship opportunities in sustainable agriculture. Grants requested must fall between €372 thousand and €472 thousand. Eligibility extends to non-profit organizations located in the European Union or Swaziland. United States Government — Wildlife Detection Dog Programs in Southeast Asia

The United States Department of State seeks to reduce wildlife trafficking and environmental crimes. Therefore, applications are invited from qualified non-governmental organizations (NGOs), educational institutions, and other non-profit qualified organizations for a grant to implement “Wildlife Detection Dog Programs in Indonesia and Malaysia”. Applicants may submit either (i) a proposal for work in both Indonesia and Malaysia with a budget up to $2million; or (ii) a proposal for work in one country, either Indonesia or Malaysia, with a budget up to $1 million. Phoenix Zoo — Funding for Wildlife Conservation and Science

The Phoenix Zoo (Arizona, USA) makes small grants to support wildlife conservation and science worldwide. Grants are limited to US$3 thousand for one year. Priority is for practical projects that help build capacity, and that involve local communities. The application period for pre-proposals is 01 November through 01 December each year. Link

 

SeaWorld and Busch Gardens — Grants for Wildlife Conservation, Research, and Education

The Conservation Fund makes grants for wildlife conservation, research, and education. Applications are accepted from non-profit organizations, government entities, and schools and universities in the USA and other countries. Most grants are under US$50 thousand. Applications received by 30 April 2018 will be considered for funding in the last two quarters of 2018. More

UN Framework Convention on Climate Change — Training Program on Greenhouse Gases

UNFCCC-GIR-CASTT is a professional training on greenhouse gas (GHG) inventories to national experts from developing countries. The goal is to enhance the technical capacity of individuals and to improve the overall competency in reporting and in contributing to climate action. The four-week intensive training course will begin on 25 June and be held in Seoul (South Korea). Current government officials, consultants and researchers in the fields of greenhouse gas emissions, emission reductions, and climate change are encouraged to apply. Participants will be provided a return ticket from and to their home countries, as well as room and board for the duration of the training. Applications have to be sent by 7 May 2018. University of Cape Town — CSAG Winter School 2018

The Climate Systems Analysis Group (CSAG) at the University of Cape Town organizes a “winter school” intensive course, with the next one scheduled for five days in July 2018. The course is presented by facilitators from CSAG and other institutions to take participants through the full spectrum of topics related to climate and climate change, with an emphasis on issues in developing countries. Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs — Challenge to Reduce Post-Harvest Losses

The 2018 Food Connection Challenge invites SMEs from the agri/food sector in Nigeria and Benin to submit their innovative ideas to reduce post-harvest losses. Participants will benefit from workshops, training sessions, and remote coaching to turn their ideas into a business plan. The winner will receive matching funding up to a maximum of €20 thousand. Roth Family Foundation — Fellowship for Short Courses related to Safe Drinking Water and Sanitation

The Roth Family Foundation offers three full fellowships per year for IHE Delft Short Courses related to Safe Drinking Water and Sanitation, to female water professionals from Sub-Saharan Africa. The fellowship covers the tuition fee, study related costs, insurance and contributes towards the costs of living and travel. Eligible candidates must be female, have a Bachelor of Science degree and at least two years of working experience. A list of eligible short courses can be found in the announcement.
