Israeli Agency for International Development — Professional Course on Agricultural Development in Arid Regions

Israel’s Agency for International Development (MASHAV) offers professional short courses in Israel in subject areas that include agriculture, energy, health, education, and social development. MASHAV offers a limited number of scholarships to cover course fees, accommodation, medical insurance, and other expenses in Israel. The international course on “Agricultural Development in Arid Regions” will focus on the efficient use, protection and development of water resources, management of salinity, and creation of long-term economically and environmentally sound operations. The course is geared towards professionals from governmental and non-governmental institutions, universities, research institutes and/or private sector involved in agricultural development in arid and semi-arid regions. EarthCorps — International Program 2018

EarthCorps invites applications from emerging environmental leaders around the world to participate in an environmental service program in the USA. Participants from the USA and other countries take part in field projects such as tree planting, trail construction, stream restoration, and removal of invasive plants. The international Program is a 6-month learning experience for non-U.S. citizens, which takes place in Seattle, Washington, USA. Applicants should be 18-28 years of age, with a university degree in an environmental field (or equivalent work experience), and speak conversational English. International participants receive a living stipend, health insurance, and accommodations with host families. However, each participant is responsible for her/his travel to Seattle, Washington. World Academy of Sciences — Visiting Experts Program

The Elsevier Foundation and the World Academy of Sciences (TWAS) are partners in the Visiting Expert Program in sustainability science. The program supports visits of distinguished scientists to institutions in developing countries, with a focus on 48 Least Developed Countries (LDCs). Host institutions in eligible countries can invite distinguished scientists to collaborate in research and training. The visit should provide a minimum stay of two weeks at the host institution. Asian Institute of Technology — Masters Scholarships in Energy and Environment

The Asian Institute of Technology invites applications for the Loom Nam Khong Pijai Scholarships for masters degree programs in infrastructure development; energy technology; oil, gas, and natural resources development; and environmental engineering and management. Eligibility extends to nationals of Thailand, Myanmar, Lao PDR, Cambodia, Vietnam and China (Yunnan and Guangxi Provinces). Each scholarship covers tuition and registration fees, accommodation, and a bursary for living expenses at AIT‘s residential campus in Thailand for the 22 months of the masters program. Hague Academy for Local Governance — Talent Programme 2018

Talent for Governance supports young talents from developing countries by providing knowledge exchange and training. Topics may include management of waste or water, local economic development, climate change, and others. The selected talents follow international training in The Hague and an internship in a Dutch municipality. Applicants must work for a local government (not an NGO or private enterprise). Monsanto Fund — Grants to Strengthen Farming Communities

The Monsanto Fund makes grants to strengthen agricultural communities in several countries around the world. Grants of US$25 thousand and more are available to tax-exempt charitable organizations for activities and projects that address farmers’ education and training; food security; community water and sanitation; and other local needs. Monsanto’s international grants are administered at the country level. The Fund presents a list of eligible countries. Monsanto publishes calls for proposals on the Fund’s website. Link

Gbowee Peace Foundation Africa — Africa Scholarship 2017

The Gbowee Peace Foundation awards scholarships for postgraduate masters at the University of Dundee (Scotland). Subjects areas include environmental science, energy petroleum and mineral law and policy, and others. The Africa Scholarships are open to female students who are currently Liberian, Nigerian or Ghanaian nationals permanently resident in these countries. Wageningen University — Course on Wetlands, Integrated Water Resources Management and Food Security

The Wageningen UR Centre for Development Innovation invites participants for its short-term course on “Wetlands, Integrated Water Resources Management and Food Security”. The course will be held in the Netherlands from 4 June 2018 until 22 June 2018. The course has been designed for wetland managers; river basin and land-use planners; policymakers, consultants, researchers, NGOs, and companies. UNIDO Institute for Capacity Development — Training Course on Green Industry

The UNIDO Institute for Capacity Development is organizing a training course on Green Industrial Development in Manama, Kingdom of Bahrain (3-7 December 2017). The course is targeted at policymakers from Arab and African countries. Participants will get a better understanding of the most pressing environmental trends and issues and look at energy efficiency, renewable energy and emissions abatement, among other themes.
