Reuters Institute for the Study of Journalism — Oxford Climate Journalism Network

The Oxford Climate Journalism Network is a global network for practicing journalists to learn from peers and academics while developing their own expertise and career in climate journalism. Members of the network will participate in a six-month online program with access to experts, dedicated workshops, and a community of 100 journalists from all continents. The course is designed for journalists, multimedia reporters, photographers, and editors who are interested in improving their coverage of climate change. United Nations Development Programme — Energy Accelerator

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) seeks startups with a solution to solve Africa’s energy challenges. The GreenTech Hub aims to foster startups developing groundbreaking solutions in renewable energy tailored to African needs. The program provides technical support, mentorship, access to funding, and advocacy to support green enterprises to grow and scale their businesses. The most viable and high-impact startups selected from the program will receive long-term support for 6 months. Startups must be legally registered and operating within Africa. U.S. National Science Foundation — International Research Experiences for U.S. University Students 2024

Through the program IRES, the National Science Foundation supports U.S. university students (graduate and undergraduate) to engage in international research. Past fellowships include several in developing countries in subject areas such as ecology, renewable energy, climate change, and others. Full proposals are due 28 October 2024. More information

Global Innovation Lab for Climate Finance — Accelerating Investments in Climate Resilience 2025

The Global Innovation Lab for Climate Finance invites innovative solutions that address barriers to climate investment in emerging markets and support the transition to a net-zero economy. The call for ideas covers four programs, each with distinct priorities. In 2025, the Lab will develop at least nine ideas. Six ideas will focus on five regional programs, with two ideas targeting Latin America and the Caribbean, and three thematic ideas. Selected ideas will receive guidance and support from experts and investors, as well as analytical and communications support. The application deadline is 07 November 2024. More about the Lab

Melton Foundation — Global Solvers Accelerator

The Global Solvers Accelerator is an eight-month project-based collaborative learning workshop furthering the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Up to 20 participants will be invited to attend the fully sponsored week-long in-person retreat, the Global Solvers Co-Lab (July 2025). Eligibility extends to young community development practitioners aged between 20 – 35 years from all around the world. Applicants must have an existing social impact project. Yale University — Young Global Scholars Program

Yale Young Global Scholars (YYGS) offers two-week academic summer programs for high school students from all around the world. The program offers four interdisciplinary sessions on campus at Yale (USA), including sessions on Innovations in Science & Technology and Solving Global Challenges. YYGS offers the opportunity for students to apply for need-based financial aid. Furthermore, YYGS will waive the application fee if it constitutes a significant financial burden for the student’s family. The application deadline is 10 January 2025. European Commission Erasmus Mundus — International Masters Degree in Environment 2025-2027

MESPOM is a two-year Erasmus Mundus master’s course in environmental sciences, policy, and management operated by four European and two North American universities. MESPOM invites applications from all countries. MESPOM aims to prepare students for identifying and implementing solutions to complex environmental sustainability challenges, especially in an international context. Graduates receive MSc degrees from the Central European University, Lund University, and the University of Manchester. The program offers several forms of financial assistance, including tuition fee waivers and living stipends. UNESCO — Land Restoration Training Program

The General Assembly of African Biosphere Reserves Network invites applications for fellowships to the GRÓ Land Restoration Training Program (GRÓ LRT). The program offers six months of training focused on land restoration and sustainable land management, hosted at the Agricultural University of Iceland. The Fellowship covers tuition and other academic expenses for the fellows, travel and health insurance costs, and a stipend that covers all their living expenses. Applicants should be working and having a prominent role in biosphere reserve ecosystem restoration activity. Asia Foundation — Leadership Program U.S./Asia

The Asia Foundation seeks applications to the “LeadNext: Ambassadors for a Global Future” program. LeadNext Fellows focus on creative approaches to addressing issues such as climate change, inequality, injustice, poverty, or other pressing issues. Fellows meet 1-3 times a week over several weeks to build competencies in social change leadership. All program expenses including travel, housing, and food are provided at no cost to fellows. Acumen Fund — India Fellows Program 2025

The Acumen Fund promotes the power of social innovation to create solutions to the world’s most pressing problems. The India Fellows Program is designed to equip local leaders with the tools, mindset, and community to tackle poverty and injustice in their communities. Past fellows have included several in smallholder agriculture, renewable energy, waste management, fair trade, and other areas.
