Coady International Institute — Women’s Leadership 2017

The Global Change Leaders Program is a seven-week education program to enable women from developing countries to strengthen their leadership capacities at the Coady Institute, affiliated with St Francis Xavier University in Canada. The program offers successful candidates a full scholarship that includes tuition, travel, accommodations, and meals. Applicants should have at least four years of demonstrated leadership experience in fields such as food security, environment, inclusive economic development, and others. The application deadline is 15 November 2016. Link

Wageningen University — Course in Landscape Governance

The Wageningen UR Centre for Development Innovation, in partnership with CIFOR and ICRAF, invites participants for an international course on landscape governance. The focus is institutional development at the landscape level — including multi-stakeholder platforms and networks, and financial support mechanisms.  The course is open to experienced professionals with several years of experience in natural resources management, forestry, agriculture, rural development, rural livelihoods, sustainable development, or other relevant areas. The course will be held in English on the CIFOR-ICRAF campus in Bogor (Indonesia), April 2017. The deadline to apply for course scholarships through the Netherlands Fellowship Program (NFP) is 18 October 2016.  Link

World Wide Fund For Nature (WWF) — Prince Bernhard Scholarships for Nature Conservation 2017

WWF supports professional training and formal studies of individuals working in disciplines directly relevant to nature conservation. Eligibility extends to mid-career nationals from Africa; Asia and Pacific; Latin America and Caribbean; Eastern Europe; and the Middle East. The maximum grant is CHF 10 thousand for studies or training lasting one year or less. The deadline for applications (English, French, Spanish) is 06 January 2017. Link

Wuppertal Institute — Knowledge Exchanges for Renewable Energy

SEPS (Sustainable Energy Project Support) will fund knowledge exchanges that promote small-scale renewable energy. The countries considered for this call are those within the Caribbean, South and Central America, South Asia, and Southeast Asia.  The target groups of the knowledge exchanges are energy practitioners and organisations, together with other stakeholders, in the eligible priority regions. The deadline for applications is 17 October 2016. Link

Masdar Institute — Graduate Studies in Environmental Sciences in the UAE

The Masdar Institute of Science and Technology in Abu Dhabi provides a cross-disciplinary program of study and research focused on sustainable technologies and policies. Masdar offers full financial scholarships to qualified candidates for masters and doctoral degree programs. Subject areas include water and environmental engineering, among others. For international applicants applying for 2017 admissions, the application period is 01 October 2016 through 15 November 2016. Link

The DO School — Apprenticeship Challenge

The DO School sponsors and funds the Entrepreneurship for Good Program to build the capacity of social entrepreneurs in strategies and methods of promoting on-the-job learning, e.g., apprenticeships.  The Apprenticeship Challenge will accept 20 individuals for a 10-week incubation phase in Brazil, followed by 10 months of implementation in the participants’ home countries.  Applications are invited from talented young adults worldwide regardless of their socioeconomic or educational backgrounds whose interests may include green economy, sustainability, international development, etc.  The course is subsidized; financial support is offered in relation to the specific needs of each applicant. Association of African Universities — Training in Practical Skills

With financial support from the government of Sweden, the AAU will make grants of up to US$600 per person to help post-graduate university students acquire practical skills via internships of 12-24 weeks. The grants are for training purposes only, not for the completion of theses or dissertations. The program is open to students in AAU member institutions in southern and eastern Africa, and in Francophone member institutions. The deadline for applications (English, French) is 15 August 2016. Netherlands Organisation for International Cooperation in Higher Education (NUFFIC) — Tailor-Made Training for Organizations

The Netherlands Fellowship Programs (NFP) include Tailor-made Training to build the capacity of an organization’s staff members. The programme is open to organisations in education, research, government, and civil society. Tailor-Made Training accepts proposals of organisations in NFP partner countries submitted jointly with a Dutch training provider. Application forms are available via the Netherlands embassies. Priorities include proposals focusing on Sub-Saharan Africa, and proposals focusing on food security. Funding is up to €75 thousand, with a co-funding requirement of at least 20%. The application deadline is 01 November 2016. Link

Israeli Agency for International Development Cooperation (MASHAV) — Professional Training in Israel 2016

MASHAV funds professional courses organized and hosted by Israeli institutions in subject areas that include agriculture, energy, natural resources, health, education, and social development. The remainder of the 2016 calendar includes a course on agri-green management (i.e., agri-environmental considerations related to climate change), with application deadline on 04 September 2016. A course on agri-business for rural women has an application deadline on 05 September 2016. A course on policies, strategies, and support systems for rural revitalization has a deadline on 09 September 2016. Applications are submitted through Israel’s diplomatic missions. For most courses, MASHAV covers course fees, accommodation, medical insurance, and other expenses in Israel (but not international airfare). Link

LEDS Global Partnership — Fellowships on Low-Emission Development Strategies

The LEDS Global Partnership offers fellowships for individuals and teams of practitioners to be embedded with leading institutions to learn practical lessons that they can apply to low-emission development strategies and/or nationally determined contributions in their home countries. Fellowships will be awarded to individuals or groups of national or sub-national government officials who play a significant role within LEDS development or implementation. This pilot phase of the program will fund one fellow from each of Africa, Asia, and Latin America and the Caribbean. The application deadline has been extended to 15 July 2016. Link
