Swiss Forum for International Agricultural Research — Young Scientists Mobility Grants with MENA Countries
Mobility grants allow researchers and students to build personal contacts and relationships for collaborations between institutions. Mobility grants can be awarded to young scientists who hold a Bachelor or Master’s degree and with not more than 6 years of professional research experience. Activities may include field work and/or an internship in relation to the applicant’s research project. The call is open for activities in all scientific disciplines and fields of research. Priority countries under this call are: Egypt, Lebanon, Morocco, Palestine, Qatar, Tunisia and the United Arab Emirates. British Council — Researcher Links Workshops, UK/Russia
Researcher Links Workshops bring together early-career researchers from the UK and a partner country to make international connections that can improve the quality of their research. UK and Russian Institutions can request up to £51 thousand to be used towards workshop implementation. All workshops must be held in 2019. American Society for Microbiology — Visiting Research Professorships in Microbiology
American Society for Microbiology (ASM), in partnership with the Indo-US Science & Technology Forum (IUSSTF), announces the ASM-IUSSTF Indo-US Professorship in Microbiology. This program seeks to broaden scientific collaboration between India and the United States though travel grants that support research and teaching partnerships. A grant up to US$5 thousand is provided to cover travel costs, visa and contingencies. Funds must be matched by the host institution (note: matching grants may be in-kind contributions). Research Council of Norway — Arctic Field Research
The Svalbard Science Forum (SSF) promotes research activities in Svalbard and administrates funding programs to stimulate data collection and inter-disciplinary as well as international cooperation. Students and researchers can apply for arctic field grants and seed money for workshops and collaborative activities. Both Norwegian and foreign students and scientists are eligible to apply, the latter only if the project is done in close cooperation with a Norwegian institution. The deadline is 10 October 2018. Indo-U.S. Science and Technology Forum — Water Advanced Research and Innovation Fellowships
The Water Advanced Research and Innovation Fellowships fund Indian participants to gain exposure and access to research facilities in water resources at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and the Daugherty Water for Food Institute. Fellowships of three to twelve months are for Indian scientists holding a PhD in water science and engineering. Internships of three to six months are for individuals currently engaged in their PhD studies in water sciences in India. The application deadline is 10 November 2018. Link
U.S. Department of State — Study/Research Award 2019-2020
The Study/Research Awards are a component of the Fulbright U.S. Student Program. The program is designed for applicants interested in designing their own projects in various areas of study (possibly within the thematic areas of the Terra Viva Grant Directory). Eligibility is limited to U.S. citizens. Program requirements vary by country, so the applicants should familiarize themselves with the program summary for the host country. Each candidate is required to be affiliated with a local institution of higher education, a research/training institute, a think tank, or a registered NGO. World Academy of Sciences — Post-Doctoral Fellowships in Brazil
In partnership with the World Academy of Sciences (TWAS), Brazil’s National Council for Scientific and Technological Development (CNPq) invites young scientists from developing countries other than Brazil to pursue postdoctoral research in natural sciences at selected Brazilian research institutions for periods of 6-12 months. Subject areas include agricultural sciences, biological sciences, and many others. CNPq will provide a standard monthly allowance which should be used to cover living costs such as accommodation, food, and health insurance. The application deadline is 14 September 2018. Link
Tata Trusts — Travel Grants for Indians
The Tata Trusts supports philanthropic initiatives in the fields of water, energy, rural development, and others. The Tata Trusts Travel Grant scheme provides partial travel assistance to professionals and other employed people to enhance their professional or work-related skills through relevant training programmes and workshops. The application should be received at least two months prior to the date of travel. This scheme is open to resident Indian only. The last date for application submission is 30 March 2019. British Council — UK-China PhD Placements
The UK-China Joint Research and Innovation Partnership Fund is a sponsorship opportunity for UK and Chinese PhD students and their supervisors to spend three to twelve months (for PhD students) and up to three months (for supervisors) at higher education institutions in China or the UK. The focus is on research areas that include food and water security, environmental technologies, and energy — among others.
