Global Centre on Biodiversity for Climate — Grant Program

The Global Centre on Biodiversity for Climate (GCBC) funds research into natural solutions to climate change and poverty. The GCBC makes grants that fund research into how the conservation and sustainable use of biodiversity can help address climate change and improve livelihoods of some of the world’s most vulnerable populations. The geographic focus is in Latin America and the Caribbean, Sub-Saharan Africa, Southeast Asia and the Pacific. The application closes 20 July 2023. Climate Grant Program

French Development Agency — Social and Environmental Justice

The Agence Française de Développement (AFD) accepts expressions of interest for research projects that address the contribution for the commons and citizen participation from a social and environmental justice perspective. The budget requested must not exceed €200 thousand per project. The research projects must be carried out in developing countries specified in the announcement. This call is dedicated to teams of researchers and social actors engaged both in the production of new research and in a public policy dialogue. The call is open until 23 July 2023. More here

Inter-American Development Bank — Climate Change and its Nexus with Gender and Diversity

The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) seeks research proposals that contribute to measuring and evaluating solutions for addressing climate change and promoting an inclusive transition to a greener economy. The initiative seeks to advance knowledge development regarding the existing inequalities between men and women, as well as inequalities faced by Indigenous Peoples, people of African descent, people with disabilities, and LGBTQ+ people. The fourth edition of this call focuses on the topic of climate change and its nexus with gender and diversity. Funding may range from US$20 thousand to US$100 thousand. FONTAGRO — Innovations in Bioeconomy

FONTAGRO announces a contest of successful cases of innovations in Bioeconomy to identify successful experiences and lessons learned that contribute to a better understanding of the transformation of agri-food systems in Latin America and the Caribbean. Producer associations and other private sector organizations, including non-profit organizations are eligible to apply. International Development Research Centre — Regional Research Networks

The International Development Research Centre (IDRC) announces a call for full proposals for the selection of regional research hubs to advance skills and policies for an inclusive and sustainable future of work. This initiative supports high-quality, innovative and gender responsive research that addresses key Future of Work challenges, including climate-resilient food systems. Regional research hubs can submit budget requests of up to a maximum of CA$1.7 million. IDRC is expecting to fund 5 regional research hubs in Asia, Sub-Saharan Africa, MENA and LAC. United Nations Environment Programme — Pilot Cities for Urban Ecosystem Restoration

The United Nations Environment Program seeks cities interested in starting or scaling up ecosystem restoration efforts. The program will support eight pilot cities with grants of US$ 50 thousand to US$100 thousand to develop innovative policy approaches, and initiate implementation of urban ecosystem restoration and nature-based solutions implementation. U.S. Government — Small Grants Program to Address Plastic Pollution

The U.S. Government seeks an implementing partner to develop and manage a small grants program to increase public participation in reducing plastic pollution and improving management of plastic waste across the lifecycle of plastics. The U.S. Government welcomes applications from U.S.-based and foreign non-profit organizations, institutions of higher education, and for-profit organizations or businesses. Elsevier — Renewable Transformation Challenge

Elsevier announces the biennial Renewable Transformation Challenge. The challenge invites innovative proposals which contribute to the goal of transitioning to 100% renewable energy. The first prize winner receives €20 thousand. Eligibility to apply extends to organizations such as private enterprises, NGOs, and research institutions for undertaking projects and programs that help move the world toward an energy system supplied entirely by renewable energy sources. U.S. Government — Countering the Illicit Exotic Pet Trade

The project aims to combat wildlife trafficking across Central and South Asia including India, Sri Lanka, Maldives, Bangladesh, Nepal, Bhutan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Turkmenistan. The aim is to increase the capacity and ability of governments to identify, interdict, investigate, and prosecute this illegal trade and dismantle the organized crime networks. Awards range from US$300 thousand to US$600 thousand. Eligibility extends to US-based and foreign non-profit organizations and educational institutions. U.S. Department of State — Countering Wildlife Trafficking in Latin America

The U.S. Department of State seeks to strengthen the capacity of wildlife institutions and actors in Latin America. The call seeks to enhance law enforcement and justice sector efforts to counter wildlife trafficking, ultimately helping to disrupt wildlife trafficking operations, and removing opportunities for criminal organizations to profit from illicit proceeds derived from the wildlife trade. Funding ranges from US$750 thousand to US$3 million. Eligibility for this award is restricted to US-based and foreign non-profit organizations and educational institutions.
