LEAP-RE — Joint Europe-Africa Call on Renewable Energy

The Long-term Europe-Africa Partnership on Renewable Energy (LEAP-RE) program aims to increase the use of renewable energy via research, demonstration, and technology transfer projects in both continents. LEAP-RE funds joint basic research, applied research and experimental development projects with a duration of 12-36 months. The call for proposals is aimed at actors in the renewable energy value chain (including universities, research institutes, companies, private sector, NGOs and public authorities). The maximum funding for each project is €1 million. Pre-proposals must be submitted no later than 01 April 2021. Link

U.S. Department of State — YSEALI Marine Accelerator Program

The Young Southeast Asian Leaders Initiative (YSEALI) Marine Accelerator Program (MAP) seeks emerging conservation leaders and influencers that address marine and inland waterway issues in Southeast Asia. Selected youth leaders will receive capacity training and participate in workshops to scale their initiative. Participants will also get a chance to receive up to US$2 thousand in project grants. Eligibility extends to citizens and residents of Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Timor-Leste, and Vietnam. Applicants may apply as individuals or represent private entities (including startups and social enterprises), civil society organizations, or academic institutions. U.S. National Science Foundation — Dimensions of Biodiversity 2021

The goal of Dimensions of Biodiversity is to promote novel and integrated approaches to understand the evolutionary and ecological significance of biodiversity. The program currently focuses on the integration of genetic, taxonomic, and functional dimensions of biodiversity. Critical Ecosystem Partnership Fund — Biodiversity Conservation in the Mediterranean Basin (Algeria)

The Critical Ecosystem Partnership Fund (CEPF) invites Letters of Inquiry (LOIs) for small grants (up to US$20 thousand) in support of biodiversity conservation in the Mediterranean Basin. Funding will be provided in support of conservation/preservation of biodiversity in coastal areas and plant conservation in Algeria. Eligibility extends to non-governmental organizations, community groups, universities and private enterprises. The ecosystem profile technical summary is available in English and French. Le Studium — Research Grants in France

Le Studium Loire Valley Institute for Advanced Studies invites applications for research grants in France. The Smart Loire Valley (SLV) Program offers four different partnering awards – Fellowships, Professorships, Visiting Researchers, Consortia – and is open to experienced international researchers in all disciplines. U.S. Agency for International Development — Water Sanitation and Hygiene in Rwanda

The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) seeks applications for a Cooperative Agreement from qualified entities to implement THRIVE-Water, Sanitation and Hygiene activity in Rwanda. The overall goal is to improve the utilization of safe drinking water and sanitation services. The total funding amount is US$21 million. Eligibility is unrestricted. French National Centre for Scientific Research — Collaborations with Sub-Saharan Africa

The French National Centre for Scientific Research (CNRS) supports existing collaborations and/or preparations with partners from Sub-Saharan Africa (excluding South Africa). The aim is the development of long-term scientific partnerships with African institutions. Applicants may propose individual exchanges between researchers, seminars or summer schools. Economic Research Forum — Mitigation and Adaptation to Impact of Climate Change in MENA Region

Economic Research Forum (ERF) supports climate research projects to address topics related to the impact of climate change in the MENA region. Possible research questions and areas of interest are outlined in the call for proposals. Proposals can be cross-country or focused on a single country. EIT Climate-KIC seeks university partners to deliver the Climate Innovation Leadership Program in 2021. The Climate Innovation Leadership Program (CIL) empowers university students to become effective agents of change. CIL will equip participants with knowledge on climate change challenges. Participants will gain the ability to combine climate insights with new entrepreneurial and systems innovation skills to deliver an action and implement projects to combat climate change.
