U.S. Department of State — Endangered Species in Traditional Chinese Medicine

The U.S. Department of State seeks public outreach projects to address demand for endangered and protected species in Traditional Chinese Medicine. One or two cooperative agreements for up to US$600 thousand will be awarded to support developing countries to reduce demand for the use of endangered species in traditional medicine. Objectives are to increase awareness of the wide variety of negative consequences of the use of endangered and protected species and to reduce demand for these traditional medicines. Milken-Motsepe Prize — AgriTech Competition

The Milken-Motsepe Prize in AgriTech is a global competition for innovative solutions that address problems faced by farmers on small to medium-sized farms in Africa. to increase economic value to farmers. Teams submit a design and business model. An independent panel of expert judges will then select up to 25 teams to receive US$10 thousand each and advance in the competition. Registration is open to anyone (anywhere in the world), with a US$1 million grand prize available for the winning team, and US$1 million in additional prizes. UNESCO — Prize for the Safeguarding and Management of Cultural Landscapes

The UNESCO-Greece Melina Mercouri International Prize for the Safeguarding and Management of Cultural Landscapes rewards outstanding examples of action to safeguard and enhance the world’s cultural landscapes. The US$30 thousand prize is awarded every two years to one laureate. Governmental agencies from UNESCO Member States, NGOs, and academic and non-governmental organizations active in the field of cultural landscapes are eligible to apply. European Union — Agri-based Digital Innovation in West Africa

The European Union invites proposals on innovative digital solutions that promote adoption of digital technologies for improved agricultural productivity for farmers and agro processors in West Africa. “Accelerating inclusive green growth through agri-based digital innovation in West Africa” AGriDI will provide competitive grants to enhance the capacities of key stakeholders in diverse areas of digital technologies and agro-ecological systems. Funding ranges from €150 thousand to €300 thousand per project. Eligible countries are Benin, Burkina Faso, Cabo Verde, Côte d’Ivoire, The Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Liberia, Mali, Niger, Nigeria, Senegal, Sierra Leone, and Togo. Applications from universities, research institutes, legally registered small and medium enterprises, farmer cooperatives, start-ups, community based organizations, and government ministries are welcome. Canada Fund for Local Initiatives — Community Projects in Bhutan

The Canada Fund for Local Initiatives invites proposals that meet the needs of local communities in Bhutan. The priorities under this call include one on environment and climate action focusing on adaptation and mitigation, as well as on water management. The average contribution is C$25 thousand to C$50 thousand per project. Eligibility extends to local community organizations, non-profit organizations, and academic institutions. UN-Habitat — Innovate4Cities Conference

UN-Habitat seeks regional curator teams comprised of local governments, research institutions and innovation partners to support the delivery of program segments that feature tangible on-the-ground outcomes on the nexus between science and practice for ambitious delivery of climate goals. The Innovate4Cities Conference Regional Curatorial teams will be recognized as supporters of the event and gain significant organizational and brand visibility. African Economic Research Consortium — Research on Climate Change and Economic Development

African Economic Research Consortium (AERC) invites research proposals on Climate Change and Economic Development in Africa to deepen understanding of environmental challenges and climate change mitigation and adaptation measures. The case studies will focus on, but not limited to, the following themes: climate-smart agriculture, impact of climate change on green and blue economies, natural resources, energy options and technologies, etc. Total budget should not exceed US$15 thousand and total duration of the study should not exceed 12 months. Researchers who completed at least one AERC research project or participated in a research project on relevant topics are eligible to apply. Thought For Food — Food Systems Game Changers Lab

The Food Systems Game Changers Lab supports game-changers who have ideas, initiatives, or innovations that have the potential to bring positive change to global food systems. The Lab will offer facilitation, learning resources, expert coaching, live sessions, and tailored mentorship programs. Participants are not required to be registered as a legal entity (company, nonprofit, government) and can submit solutions as an individual or a team. Ideas have to be submitted before 14 May 2021. United States Agency for International Development — Biodiversity Conservation in Liberia

The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) seeks applications for a cooperative agreement from qualified entities in Liberia to implement the Conservation Works activity. The goal of the activity is to conserve biodiversity and threatened species, especially western chimpanzees, by strengthening Protected Areas (PA) and helping communities be less reliant on protected resources for their livelihoods. U.S. Department of State — Women’s Economic Empowerment in the Mekong

The U.S. Department of State seeks applications from organizations to support women’s economic empowerment in the Mekong through providing financial literacy training and support. This project should increase the access of women entrepreneurs and business owners to financing, market opportunities, and training to help establish and grow their micro, small, or medium enterprises. The Bureau of East Asian and Pacific Affairs anticipates having approximately $395 thousand of economic support funds available to support one successful application.
