The Canada Fund for Local Initiatives invites proposals that meet the needs of local communities in Armenia. The priorities under this call include environmental and climate action focusing on adaptation and mitigation and on water management. The average contribution is C$25 thousand to C$40 thousand per project. Eligibility extends to local community organizations, non-profit organizations, and academic institutions. IREX — Community Solutions

IREX Community Solutions is a professional development program for community leaders in eligible countries to participate in a four-month fellowship with a local nonprofit organization or government agency in the USA. The subject areas include environmental issues (among others). Applications are accepted from eligible countries in East Asia and the Pacific; South and Central Asia; Sub-Saharan Africa; North Africa and the Middle East; Europe; and Latin America and the Caribbean. Tyler Prize for Environmental Achievement — Nominations for Prize in 2025

The Tyler Prize for Environmental Achievement grants US$250 thousand to recognize exceptional accomplishments in environmental science, energy, or medicine. The Tyler Prize can be awarded to living individuals or public or private institutions anywhere in the world. Several past prize winners have been distinguished in scientific and technical areas such as the global nitrogen cycle, global biodiversity assessments, wastewater treatment in developing countries, and others relevant to the link between environment and development. MacArthur Foundation — $100 Million to Solve a Critical Problem

The MacArthur Foundation accepts applications for the 100&Change Competition to fund a proposal that promises real and measurable progress in solving a critical problem of the time. Applicants must strive toward transformative change in areas of profound concern, including the existential threats of climate change. The MacArthur Foundation will provide US$ 100 million in funding to a single proposal. The challenge is open to organizations and collaborations working in any field, anywhere in the world. The Canada Fund for Local Initiatives invites proposals that meet the needs of local communities in Haiti. The priorities under this call include women’s economic rights, decent jobs and entrepreneurship, and investing in the poorest and most vulnerable (which may include agriculture or aquaculture projects). The average contribution is C$25 thousand to C$50 thousand per project. Eligibility extends to local community organizations, non-profit organizations, and academic institutions. Global Citizens — Waislitz Global Citizen Award 2024

The Waislitz Global Citizen Award is an annual cash prize recognizing the excellence of one individual in their work to end extreme poverty. The grand prize winner receives US$100 thousand. Global Citizens makes three additional awards of $75 thousand each. Past winners include zero waste, environmental protection, and sanitation projects. The deadline for submissions is 03 June 2024. U.S. Department of State — Professional Fellows Program for Latin America and the Caribbean

The U.S. Department of State invites proposal submissions for the Young Leaders of the Americas (YLAI) Fellowship Program. The global exchange program will support approx. 250 social entrepreneurs from Latin America and the Caribbean in a five to four-week Fellowship program, including entrepreneurial training and workshops. Association of Commonwealth Universities — Fellowships

The Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU) provides fellowships for the academic and professional staff to facilitate collaboration at a distance and the creation of valuable new partnerships between ACU member universities across the Commonwealth. Aquapreneur Innovation Initiative — Water Pollution Challenge

The Aquapreneur Innovation Initiative aims to find innovative solutions to conserve and restore freshwater ecosystems. Aquapreneur seeks high-potential solutions to prevent water pollution and reduce the environmental impacts of contaminated water. Solutions could include advanced filtration, the elimination of wastewater discharges, decision support systems to provide accurate and accessible data for measuring options for both the public and industries, as well as household water testing and filtration. Up to 10 innovators will each be eligible to receive CHF 175 thousand in co-financing. The challenge is open for submissions until 12 August 2024. Tackling Water Pollution Challenge

The Canada Fund for Local Initiatives (CFLI) invites proposals that meet the needs of local communities in Jamaica. CFLI provides funding to projects that create income-earning opportunities for women (which may also include rural agricultural development), as well as environment, and climate action focusing on adaptation and mitigation. The average contribution is C$10 thousand to C$25 thousand per project. Eligibility extends to not-for-profit local, national, or community-based organizations.
