100,000 Strong in the Americas — U.S.-Andean Innovation Fund Grant

The US-Andean Innovation Fund Competition is designed to create and foster partnerships between higher education (HEIs) in Colombia, Peru, Ecuador, and Bolivia and the United States that provide new student exchange and training programs in the academic themes of Environment & Climate Solutions, Food & Agricultural Sciences, Biotechnology, Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) and others. The Innovation Fund intends to award up to six grants of US$36 thousand. Higher education institutions in Colombia, Peru, Ecuador, and Bolivia and the United States are eligible to apply. Humanitarian Water Air Food Awards — Award Registrations and Nominations

The Humanitarian Water Air Food Awards (WAF) acknowledge and promote individuals and organizations that implement sustainable projects to secure water, clean air, and food — and that empower local communities. WAF is open worldwide for pioneering projects that have at least two years of success in bringing best practices and relevant change in the focus areas of water, food, or clean air. The winners will receive a monetary prize and visibility at the annual WAF awards ceremony. Award registrations and nominations are open. Details here

SDSN Youth — Global Innovation and Impact Awards

SDSN Youth mobilizes youth to the forefront of achieving the Sustainable Development Goals by connecting young people to pathways of understanding, collaboration and action. The Global Innovation and Impact Awards aim to recognize and mobilize leading solutions for the Sustainable Development Goals. The Awards target young changemakers worldwide building solutions for the SDGs. The submissions must have a measurable positive impact on achieving at least one of the 17 SDGs. SDSN Youth will work collaboratively with the awardees to provide seed funding, mentorship and access to exclusive opportunities. U.S. Department of State — Built Water Storage in South Asia

The U.S. Department of State seeks organizations to build technical and policy capacity to develop and manage built water storage in the South Asian region. The project will  be implemented in Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Nepal, and Pakistan. The intended beneficiaries of this project are government officials in the targeted countries; water management, environmental and energy management, and other related professionals; faculty members and advanced students. The anticipated award amount is US$1.28 million. Proposed programs should be completed in 36 months or less. Eligibility is restricted to non-profit organizations. Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz International Prize for Water — 11th Cycle

The Prince Sultan Bin Abdulaziz International Prize for Water (PSIPW) is an award focusing on water-related scientific innovation from around the world. The 11th cycle of the Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz International Prize for Water consists of one creativity prize and four specialized prizes. The Creativity Prize of US$266 thousand is made for pioneering and innovative research in any water-related field. The four specialized prizes are worth US$133 thousand each and are made for research in surface water; groundwater; alternative water (e.g., desalinization, wastewater treatment, etc.); and water management and protection. Candidates for the Creativity Prize are identified through external nominations. Candidates for the specialized prizes can self-nominate. The deadline for nominations is 31 December 2022. Canada Fund for Local Initiatives — Community Projects in Ethiopia, Djibouti, African Union

The Canada Fund for Local Initiatives invites proposals that meet the needs of local communities in Ethiopia, Djibouti, African Union. The priorities under this call include women’s economic rights, decent jobs and entrepreneurship, and investing in the poorest and most vulnerable (which may include agriculture or aquaculture projects), as well as environment, climate action focusing on adaptation and mitigation, and water management. The average contribution is C$30 thousand to C$50 thousand per project. Eligibility extends to local community organizations, non-profit organizations, and academic institutions. Energias de Portugal — Clean Energy Projects in Remote Rural Areas

Energias de Portugal (EDP) supports sustainable and clean energy projects in remote rural areas. The 4th edition of the EDP Energy Access Fund supports clean energy projects in Angola, Malawi, Mozambique, Nigeria, and Rwanda. Projects are expected to relieve energy poverty across one or more of five focus areas, including water and agriculture (boreholes, water pumping and crop irrigation). Projects may apply for support between €50 thousand and €150 thousand. Eligibility extends to non-profit and for-profit entities. Individuals or groups are not eligible. Canada Fund for Local Initiatives — Community Projects in Cuba

The Canada Fund for Local Initiatives invites proposals that meet the needs of local communities in Cuba. The priorities under this call include women’s economic rights, decent jobs and entrepreneurship, and investing in the poorest and most vulnerable (which may include agriculture or aquaculture projects), as well as environment, climate action focusing on adaptation and mitigation, and water management. The average contribution is C$10 thousand to C$24 thousand per project. Eligibility extends to local community organizations, non-profit organizations, and academic institutions. University of Science and Technology of Hanoi — Masters Studies 2022-2023

The University of Science and Technology of Hanoi offers Bachelor, Master, and PhD programs in subject areas that include energy; water, environment, oceanography; and several others. Eligibility to apply extends to Vietnamese and international students graduated from relevant training fields in or before 2022, with good academic results and ability in English. For highly qualified applicants, merit-based scholarships and/or need-based fellowships cover up to 100% of tuition fees and living expenses. Entrepreneurship Campus — Youth Citizen Entrepreneurship Competition

The Entrepreneurship Campus invites innovative ideas for the Youth Citizen Entrepreneurship Competition to create a culture for entrepreneurship and implement one or more of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals. Participants are invited to submit their innovative ideas and projects with a societal impact. Entries will be posted on the competition website and are subject to online commenting and public voting. Winners receive a virtual badge and a certificate. Participants from 13 to 29 years who are operating a business, a non-profit organization or an informal program are eligible to apply. Applications can be submitted until 15 September 2022. Know more
