SEED — Starter Workshop for Eco-Enterprises in Botswana

SEED offers valuable resources and professional support to expand entrepreneurial ideas while learning from peers during interactive SEED Starter workshops. SEED Starter workshops consist of a team of 2-5 members that bring in a business idea for addressing environmental, social and economic challenges. Successful alumni are invited to apply for a SEED Grant for up to €1,000 which pays for resources required to establish the new enterprise. Eco-Entrepreneurs from Botswana are invited to apply for the next starter workshop. Applications have to be received by 30 April 2022. Link to current openings

Canada Fund for Local Initiatives — Community Projects in Morocco and Mauritania

The Canada Fund for Local Initiatives invites proposals that meet the needs of local communities in Morocco and Mauritania. The priorities under this call include women’s economic rights, decent jobs and entrepreneurship, environment and climate action focusing on adaptation and mitigation, as well as on water management. The average contribution is C$10 thousand to C$20 thousand per project. Eligibility extends to local community organizations, non-profit organizations, and academic institutions. Amani Institute — Social Innovation Management

The Amani Institute offers a post-graduate certificate in social innovation management that emphasizes leadership, communication, entrepreneurship and management, and creativity and problem solving. Fellows will participate in a 3-month Immersion phase in Nairobi (Kenya). Fellows represent a diversity of fields contributing to sustainable development, including themes related to the environment. Amani offers discounted tuition plus a limited number of tuition scholarships (but excluding airfare and housing) in cases of extreme need. The application deadline for scholarships is 06 May 2022. German Federal Ministry of Education and Research — Green Talents Competition 2022

The German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) makes awards to individuals worldwide for their original solutions for a more sustainable future. “Green Talents – International Forum for High Potentials in Sustainable Development” invites innovative green ideas for the current competition. The winning applicants are invited to a two-week science forum and networking program in Germany, followed by the opportunity of a return visit to conduct research in Germany. Past winners include many in renewable energy, water management, and environmental engineering. The deadline is 24 May 2022. Green Talents 2022

Copernicus Masters — Environment, Energy & Health Challenge

Copernicus Masters is an international innovation competition that honors the best solutions using earth observation data and applications to solve global challenges. The Environment, Energy & Health Challenge, sponsored by DLR, seeks innovative solutions that use earth observation (EO) data to support sustainable management of the planet’s limited natural resources and foster human well-being. The winner of the DLR challenge receives €5 thousand. All participants have the chance to win an additional €10 thousand if chosen as the overall Copernicus winner. International Water Association — Global Water Award

The International Water Association (IWA) focuses on developing solutions for water and wastewater management. IWA invites applications for the IWA Global Water Award. The award recognizes the exceptional contribution made by an individual to improve sustainable water and sanitation globally by creating an innovative water solution/management practice that impacts broader sustainable development. The award will be presented at the IWA World Water Congress & Exhibition in Copenhagen, Denmark (September 2022). The application deadline is 06 May 2022. Global Water Award

International Water Association — Young Leadership Award

The International Water Association (IWA) Young Leadership Award is granted to an exceptional water professional below the age of 35 who has demonstrated significant achievements in their career. This award recognizes the contribution of an individual rather than an organization or project. The winner will receive their award during the World Water and Development Congress & Exhibition (September 2022) in Copenhagen, Denmark. The call for nominations closes 06 May 2022. Global Youth Mobilization — Local Solutions Fund

Global Youth Mobilization is a movement of young people taking action to improve their lives in a post-COVID-19 world. The Local Solutions Fund supports young people that have an idea for a solution to overcome a challenge created by the COVID-19 pandemic to support their local community. Individuals or informal groups can apply for up to UD$1,500. Youth-led grassroots organizations can apply for up to US$5,000. Any young person between the ages of 14 – 30 can apply. Applications must be aligned with the WHO’s recommendations on COVID-19 public health measures (e.g., water and sanitation). Applications will be reviewed on a three month rolling cycle. Swedish Research Council — Starting Grants in Development Research

The Swedish Research Council funds research projects relevant to the fight against poverty and for sustainable development in low income countries. The applicant for a research project grant must be an individual researcher. Research cooperation between scientists in Sweden and scientists in selected low and middle-income countries is encouraged. The maximum amount is SEK 1.5 million per year for a period of four years. Canada Fund for Local Initiatives — Community Projects in Tunisia

The Canada Fund for Local Initiatives (CFLI) invites proposals that meet the needs of local communities in Tunisia. CFLI provides funding to projects that implement environment and climate action projects focusing on adaptation and mitigation, water management, and other thematic priorities. The average contribution is C$50 thousand per project (in exceptional cases, CFLI may grant up to C$100 thousand). Eligibility extends to not-for-profit local, national or community-based organizations. The deadline for submission is 31 March 2022. Link
