United Nations Women’s Guild Vienna — Children’s Charity

The United Nations Women’s Guild annually makes grants to registered charities in support of projects in education and health that benefit disadvantaged children around the world. Past projects include many focusing on clean drinking water in communities and schools. The maximum grant is €10 thousand. Unleash — Incubation Program for Entrepreneurs

UNLEASH Plus is a global 6-month incubation program for entrepreneurs working on social or environmental challenges, in line with the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDG). The program provides teams with the right skills, mindsets, and resources to test and launch their solutions, and design them for large-scale impact. Teams will explore real-life challenges within the SDG themes, before defining specific problems and coming up with solutions. The top teams will present their solutions to investors and experts. InfoNile — COVID-19 Pandemic and Water Crisis

InfoNile seeks proposals for in-depth reporting on the Impacts of Covid-19 on irrigation and water access and use by farmers. The program invites journalists (TV journalists and local radio journalists) to investigate agriculture water supply, sanitation, and hygiene (AgriWASH). InfoNile is interested in multimedia stories focusing on how Covid-19 is impacting agricultural water management in the Nile basin countries. Most grants will be around US$1,000. Eligibility extends to all countries in Africa’s Nile River basin, especially arid Egypt and Sudan as well as drought-ridden areas of Kenya, Ethiopia and Uganda. SEED — Starter Workshop for Eco-Enterprises in Zambia

The SEED Starter program offers workshops to guide young entrepreneurs from early stages of ideation to the generation of a viable business plan. SEED Starter invites applications from teams who develop green and inclusive business solutions to key social and environmental challenges in Zambia. Participation in the workshops is free, although participants need to cover their transportation costs and accommodation. All SEED Starter participants consist of a team of 2-5 members. BioInnovate Africa — Bioscience Innovation Bootcamp

BioInnovate Africa seeks applications for the 2021 Bioscience Innovation Bootcamp. The bootcamp is a regional science program for entrepreneurial scientists to develop innovative and commercially viable bio-based ideas. Participants are asked to develop innovative bioscience research ideas, technologies and inventions for practical use in their communities, thus fostering the development of a sustainable bioeconomy in their region. Ideas include, but are not limited to, agroecology, food and feed, wastewater treatment, bioenergy, among others. All proposed innovative bio-based ideas must have potential for commercial application. Participants have access to a 3 months acceleration program, funding, and technical assistance. Critical Ecosystem Partnership Fund — Biodiversity Conservation in the Mediterranean Basin (wider Prespa-Ohrid area)

The Critical Ecosystem Partnership Fund (CEPF) and the Prespa Ohrid Nature Trust (PONT) invite Letters of Inquiry (LOIs) for small grants (up to US$20 thousand) for projects that support the sustainable management of water catchments in the wider Prespa-Ohrid area (Albania and North Macedonia). Grinnell College — Grinnell Prize 2022

Grinnell College invites nominations for the 2022 Grinnell Prize. The Grinnell Prize of US$50 thousand will be awarded to individuals who show creativity, commitment, and extraordinary accomplishment in effecting positive social change. Past nominations have spanned a diversity of social issues related to agriculture and hunger relief, conservation and environment, and many other thematic areas. Nominees may be nationals of any country who have earned a bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) between 2006 and 2022. Nominees must be nominated by a third party. MDPI — Water PhD Thesis Award 2021

MDPI, a publisher of peer-reviewed, open access journals, invites applications for the Water 2021 Best PhD Thesis Award. This prize will be awarded to a PhD student who is about to graduate or defend their graduation thesis. The award consists of CHF800 and a free publication in MDPI Water before the end of 2022. Canada Fund for Local Initiatives — Community Projects in Malawi

The Canada Fund for Local Initiatives supports small-scale, high-impact projects in Malawi. The priorities under this call include one on environment and climate action focusing on adaptation and mitigation, as well as on water management. The average contribution is up to a maximum of CA$ 50 thousand in funding per project. Eligibility extends to local community organizations, non-profit organizations, and academic institutions. ETH Zurich — Opportunity Grants

The Leading House ETH Zurich calls for proposals for opportunity grants with China, Japan, South Korea and ASEAN countries. Opportunity grants will support activities of Swiss researchers from universities or public research institutes linked to specific events, incidents, or major environmental and economic developments in the region in Asia. The call is open to all scientific disciplines and fields of research. Senior scientists may request up to CHF 50 thousand for projects of up to 12 months. The application deadline is 18 July 2021.
