British Council — Professional Training for South Asia

The Professional Training Scheme provides a variety of specialized learning opportunities to practitioners in South Asia. The scheme is available for researchers based in Afghanistan, Bangladesh, India, Nepal, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka. Priority areas include water (e.g. water resource management, water health and sanitation, water cooperation and diplomacy), among others. British Council — Small Grants for Research Collaboration with South Asia

The British Council Small-Scale Research Project Scheme provides funding (up to £5 thousand) for early-career researchers in the UK and countries in South Asia. The funding is intended for collaborative research projects in the theme water (e.g. water resource management, water health and sanitation, water cooperation and diplomacy), among others. Partnerships must be formed between a UK university/research institute and a university/research institute in Afghanistan, Bangladesh, India, Nepal, Pakistan, or Sri Lanka. Woodard and Curran Foundation — Technology Solutions to solve Water Issues

The Woodard and Curran Foundation makes grants to help address problems of water, food, climate, and energy. Most projects have a strong educational component. Larger grant of US$100 thousand are made to 3 year projects. Projects are led by U.S. nonprofit organizations. The current call for Impact Grants seeks innovative technology solutions that address water (e.g. water, wastewater, stormwater) issues. the application deadline is 30 June 2019. U.S. Department of State — U.S.-ASEAN Water Smart Exchanges

The U.S. Office of Conservation and Water seeks US applicants for the U.S.-ASEAN Smart Cities Partnership Water-Smart Exchanges (WiSE) program. The Program will pair cities in the ASEAN Smart Cities Network (ASCN) with counterparts in the United States to expand the adoption of new technologies and innovative approaches to improve the management of water resources. ASCN participants will tour U.S. locations to study water management practices and technology innovations. One single award of up to US$1.4 million is available for an initial project period of three years. Eligibility is limited to U.S. non-profit organizations and educational institutions. British Council — Newton Fund Researcher Links Regional Workshops

Newton Fund Researcher Links Regional Workshops bring together early-career researchers from the UK and other regional partner countries to allow them to make international connections that can improve the quality of their research. The program intends to tackle global challenges – such as climate and environment, sustainable energy, water and sanitation, rural and urban development, and food safety among others. IC-IMPACTS — Smart Cities

IC-IMPACTS and the Department of Science & Technology (DST) of the Government of India invite proposals for the Cyber-Physical Systems to Support Green Buildings in Smart Cities. Projects under this call should aim at developing sensors, cyber-physical interfaces and solutions for energy reduction, net zero energy, carbon neutrality, reduced water usage, water harvesting, and on-site treatment, as well as to instigate other benefits for smarter and more sustainable buildings. Canadian and Indian researchers are eligible to be funded in the collaborative research. Projects can be submitted both to IC-IMPACTS or DST by 31 May 2019. More info

Climate Chance — Climate Chance Summit Africa 2019

Climate Chance opens the call for proposals for the Climate Chance Summit Africa 2019. The call is open to local authorities, businesses, NGOs, trade unions, scientists, representatives from agricultural, youth, women and indigenous organisations, educators and citizens. Initiatives corresponding to many themes will be considered: Access to climate finance in Africa; Developing African cities in a sustainable way; Agriculture, food and reforestation in Africa; Renewable energy and energy efficiency in Africa; Adaptation and Water in Africa; Education and Training on Climate Change in Africa; and others. U.S. Department of State — YSEALI Academic Fellowship

The Young Southeast Asian Leaders Initiative (YSEALI) is a program of the U.S. government to support bright young leaders in the ASEAN countries. The YSEALI Academic Fellowship offer support to participate in a five-week institute on the campus of a U.S. university or college in one of the following topics: civil engagement; environmental issues; or social entrepreneurship and economic development. The fellowships include leadership development, an educational study tour, local community service activities, and opportunities to engage with peers in the USA. Applications are invited from current full-time undergraduate students citizen of Vietnam aged between 18 and 25 years. Application deadline is 02 June 2019. Link

The Norwegian Human Rights Fund — Land and Environmental Rights

The Norwegian Human Rights Fund (NHRF) invites applications for the  Land and Environmental Rights call for proposals. Through this call, NRHF seeks to increase support to human rights organisations working with land rights and environmental rights, including natural resources.The call is open to human rights organisations located and working with land and environmental rights in Indonesia, Mexico and Thailand.
