RMTI University — Scholarships 2019
The RMTI University offers scholarships for international students undertaking a degree at the University’s College of Science, Engineering and Health. Courses in the Science department include environmental science, food science, biological sciences, among others. Eligible candidates must be citizens of Indonesia, Malaysia or Singapore that achieve a minimum of 70% average in their highest level of education award. Unilever — Young Entrepreneurs Awards 2019
The Unilever Young Entrepreneurs Awards invite nominations of individuals ages 18 to 35 anywhere in the world who have initiatives, products, or services that address sustainability challenges in three categories. The categories are ‘improve people’s health and well-being’; ‘improve the health of the planet’; and ‘contribute to a fairer and more socially inclusive world’. Unilever will recognise up to eight winners in 2019, each of whom will be awarded a cash prize in addition to one-to-one mentoring support for a year. The overall winner will receive the “HRH The Prince of Wales Young Sustainability Entrepreneur Prize” of €50 thousand, the remaining winners will each receive a €8.5 thousand cash award. Woodard & Curran Foundation — Water Impact Grant
The Woodard & Curran Foundation funds innovative projects that apply or advances technology by addressing water issues (e.g. water, wastewater, stormwater). One total grant of US$100 thousand will be awarded over three consecutive years. Eligibility extends to US-based non-profit organizations. US Department of Agriculture — Conservation Innovation Grants
The US Department of Agriculture Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) announced the Conservation Innovation Grant (CIG) to stimulate the development and adoption of conservation approaches and technologies towards soil and grazing land health, and water quality. Eligibility extends to non-federal entities (NFE) and individuals for projects carried out in the Pacific Islands Area locations including the state of Hawaii, Guam, American Samoa and the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands. Society of Chemical Industry — Travel Bursaries
The Society of Chemical Industry awards travel bursaries to young PhD students. There are various schemes available, some related to agriculture and life sciences. Applicants will have preference if they wish to travel outside their country of residence, especially if they wish to work in a laboratory abroad. University College London — Research Grant Awards
UCL supports interdisciplinary research on themes relating to one or more of the Nahrein Network’s five aims through the Research Grant Awards program. Overarching aims of the program are related to the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (water and land). Two types of funding are offered: small grants (up to £30 thousand) for projects led by Iraqi researchers, or collaborations between Iraqi and UK researchers; and large grants (up to £100 thousand) for collaborations between Iraqi, Lebanese or Turkish and UK researchers. International Union for Conservation of Nature — Call for Proposals: Reduce Plastic Leakage into the Ocean
IUCN announces the call for proposals to reduce plastic leakage into the ocean. The overall aim is to enhance plastic leakage reduction or avoidance, reducing plastic leaking into the marine environment as part of the Marine Plastics and Coastal Communities (MARPLASTICCs) project. Target countries are Kenya, Mozambique, South Africa, Thailand and Vietnam. IUCN will provide financial support of up to US$50 thousand in each target country for a period of 12 months. European Commission — Cross Border Cooperation Programme for Environment
The EC announces funding for the Cross Border Cooperation Programme for Environment – Albania Kosovo. The objectives of the programme are to strengthen good neighbourly relations and foster environmentally friendly and social inclusive economic development of the bordering regions, through the promotion of their touristic potential and respect of its common cultural and natural heritage. The first lot will be allocated to the development of green economy and circular economy, and the second lot to tackling water pollution and promoting climate change adaptation related to water basins. Eligibility for funding extends to non profit legal organizations from either Albania or Kosovo. The grant requested under this call for proposals must be between €420 thousand and €840 thousand for Lot 1 and between €600 thousand and €1.2 million for Lot 2. Canada Fund for Local Initiatives — Community Projects in Eurasia and Central Asia
The Canada Fund for Local Initiatives invites proposals that meet the needs of local communities in any one of the following countries: Turkey, Azerbaijan, Georgia, and Turkmenistan. The priorities under this call include one on environment and climate action focusing on adaptation and mitigation, as well as on water management. The average contribution is expected to be in the range of C$15 thousand to C$30 thousand per project. Larger projects may be considered on an exceptional basis.
