U.S. Agency for International Development — Women in Science Mentoring Program

The PEER Women in Science Mentoring Program aims to help retain women in science and teach early career scientists to write successful international research awards. The USAID PEER Program invites applications from African Mentor-Mentee Cohorts. Cohorts should be made up of one woman senior faculty mentor and 2-4 women mentees (postdocs and/or junior faculty). Mentors will receive a US$2 thousand honorarium. Mentees will receive training and the opportunity to compete for small seed grants (US$10 thousand) following their participation in the year-long mentoring program. World Bank — Public-Private Infrastructure in Water, Energy, and Transportation

The World Bank’s Public-Private Infrastructure Advisory Facility (PPIAF) welcomes submissions on topics pertaining to private-sector participation in infrastructure, public-private partnerships, and sub-national finance for energy, water, and transportation. PPIAF is looking for knowledge products that provide lessons learned or best practices which can be applied across countries and across regions. International RiverFoundation — Thiess Asia-Pacific Riverprize

The Thiess Asia-Pacific Riverprize invites applications from any organization in the Asia-Pacific region involved in river management, restoration and/or protection. The finalists will have the opportunity to showcase their projects at the 21st International Riversymposium. The winner will receive a cash prize and a trophy. USA, UK, and Canada — Humanitarian Grand Challenge

The U.S. Agency for International Development, the UK Department for International Development, and Grand Challenges Canada seek proposals for the “Creating Hope in Conflict: A Humanitarian Grand Challenge”. Thematic areas that fall in the scope of the Terra Viva Grants Directory include drinking water, sanitation, and energy, among others. Projects should focus on life-saving or life-improving innovations to help the most vulnerable and hardest-to-reach people impacted by humanitarian crises caused by conflict. About 10 to 15 selected projects will receive seed funding of C$250 thousand over a maximum of 24 months to support the validation and testing of new approaches. Few selected projects (about 2 to 4) will receive transition-to-scale funding of up to C$1 million with technical support to support the implementation of innovative solutions that have already achieved proof of concept. Eligible applicants include social enterprises and other recognized institutions (e.g., non-profit organizations and for-profit companies) from all around the world. Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation — Global Citizenship Challenge

The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation seeks innovators who positively engage young people (under the age of 30) in Global Citizenship. Investigators are invited to propose innovative and creative solutions that uses new knowledge to positively engage young people in no poverty, zero hunger, clean water and sanitation and other thematic areas of sustainable development. There are no geographical restrictions. Projects must request less that US$ 100 thousand for 12 months. The deadline for proposals is 02 May 2018. About the challenge

European Commission — Sustainable Use of Peatland and Haze Mitigation

The European Commission calls for concept notes for projects that promote sustainable management of peatlands through collective actions in ASEAN member states. Requested grants under this call for proposals must fall between €4,5 and €5 million. Eligibility extends to non-profit organisations established in a Member State of the European Union or in a Member State of the ASEAN. Australian APEC Study Centre — Women in Research 2018

The Australia – APEC Women in Research Fellowship supports female researchers from developing APEC economies to work in collaboration with partners at Australian institutions. Past fellows include several in subjects such as water resources, climate change, marine microbiology, and others related to environment. The program is open to female citizens and permanent residents in the following countries: Chile, China, Indonesia, Malaysia, Mexico, Papua New Guinea, Peru, the Philippines, Thailand and Viet Nam. ETH Zurich — Exchange of Young Researchers

ETH Zurich, in Switzerland, supports the exchange of young researchers between Switzerland and China. Swiss senior researchers from universities or research institutes and from all scientific disciplines can apply to host young Chinese scholars or apply to send one of their PhD students to China to conduct research. The European Commission calls for concept notes from non-profit organizations that implement projects to improve access to safe water, adequate sanitation and hygiene practices in urban and small towns in Nigeria. Royal Institution Of Chartered Surveyors — Cities for our Future Challenge 2018

The Cities for our Future Challenge is a global competition run by the Royal Institution Of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) in partnership with UNESCO and the ACU. Young professional, start-ups and students involved in surveying, urban design, architecture, or engineering are invited to submit innovative ideas for projects and policies that solve issues in the topics of Rapid Urbanisation, Climate Change, and Resource Scarcity.
