Slovak Republic — Slovak Government Scholarships 2023-2024

As part of its program of official development assistance, the Slovak Republic annually awards scholarships to support qualified international students for studies at Slovak universities. The fields of study include ecological and environmental sciences; agriculture, forestry, and veterinary medicine; water resources management; and several others. Eligible countries for scholarships are Afghanistan, Albania, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Georgia, Kenya, Kosovo, Moldova, Mongolia, Palestinian Territories, Ukraine, and Vietnam. EUROPARC Federation — Study Visits at Protected Areas in Europe and Eurasia

The EUROPARC Federation partners with the Alfred Toepfer Stiftung to promote international cooperation within the European dimension of protected area management. Grants of €3 thousand allow young conservationists to make study visits to one or more protected areas external to their home countries. The study visits should correspond to any of the five themes identified in the announcement. In addition to western Europe, participating countries include Albania, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Georgia, Macedonia, Moldova, Montenegro, Russia, Serbia, Turkey, and Ukraine. Swedish Institute — Scholarships for South Africa

The Swedish Institute (SI) provides citizens of South Africa with fully-funded international scholarships for master’s studies in Sweden. The scholarship aims to develop future global leaders that will contribute to the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and contribute to a positive and sustainable development in South Africa. The scholarship is intended for full-time one-year or two-year master’s programs. SI fully covers tuition fees  and makes regular payments of SEK10 thousand to cover living expenses throughout the scholarship. The application portal will close on 28 February 2023. Expo Live — Innovation Impact Grant Programme

Expo Live supports novel solutions that address pressing environmental and climate challenges. The program offers up to US$50 thousand in funding to support the growth of social enterprises, startups and grassroots projects from around the world that offer creative solutions to pressing challenges. The Grant Program is open to social entrepreneurs, SMEs, non-profit organizations, and government entities. Interested applicants should submit a pre-proposal by 01 March 2023. National Geographic Society — Animal Behavior and Cognition

The National Geographic Society seeks scientists doing field research on animal behavior and cognition. Selected scientists will receive direct funding of US$800 thousand, as well as substantial additional resources and services over four years. Projects must be research-based, be fieldwork-oriented and focus on wild populations. This funding opportunity does not have any taxonomic or geographic restrictions. Candidates must have at least three years of relevant work experience after the award of their Ph.D. Applicants must submit their projects by 12 April 2023. Link to National Geographic

European Institute of Innovation and Technology — Reconnecting with Nature

New European Bauhaus supports European startups or scaleups developing innovative solutions aligned with “reconnecting people with nature.” Companies accepted into the program will benefit from a €10 thousand grant and active support in the form of workshops and events. UNESCO — Award for Biosphere Reserve Management

The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) sponsors the Michel Batisse Award for outstanding achievements in biosphere reserve management. The award is US$12 thousand and international travel and allowances in Paris to present the winning case study to the MAB-ICC session. Critical Ecosystems Partnership Fund — Biodiversity Conservation Indonesia (Small Grants)

Critical Ecosystem Partnership Fund (CEPF) makes small grants in support of biodiversity conservation in Indonesia with focus on the “Wallacea Biodiversity Hotspot.” Grants are in support of community-based sustainable small-scale fisheries, protection and conservation of endangered marine species, marine protected areas management, and activities that promote improved marine and coastal ecosystems. This call is for small grants of less than US$50 thousand. Eligibility for grants extends to NGOs, community groups, private enterprises, universities, and other civil society applicants. UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network — Youth Solutions Program

The Youth Solutions Program provides young innovators with access to experts, training, and exposure to opportunities. You have an innovative solution that addresses one or more of the SDGs. The UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network seeks early-stage startups that have a prototype and are actively testing with users or beneficiaries. U.S. Embassy in Georgia — Small Grants Program

The Small Grants Program awards grants for specific projects that support democracy, enhance the development of democratic institutions and foster education of civil society in Georgia. The maximum amount of a grant is US$50 thousand per project. Projects must address sustainable rural development, preservation of cultural heritage, sustainable tourism, or education. Grants will be awarded to non-governmental, non-profit organizations, educational institutions, and media organizations. The deadline for submission of applications is 20 February 2023.
