Jewish Helping Hands (JHH) supports vulnerable populations through a variety of programs focused on economic development and social empowerment through financial and hands-on support. JHH considers making grants to individuals or organizations that provide the basic necessities for a decent life, including water, food and womens’ empowerment. Projects are ordinarily eligible for awards up to $5 thousand. JHH seeks to partner with grassroots organizations in East Africa, Central America, North America, any impoverished Jewish Communities, and Israel. European Union — Clean Cooking Solutions in Tanzania
The CookFund program seeks to reduce climate change impact in Tanzania by increasing the share of the population with access to sustainable cooking solutions. The CookFund targets suppliers of clean cooking technologies in urban areas. The program provides technical and financial support to eligible enterprises and companies. L’Oreal and UNESCO — Women in Science International Awards
The Women in Science International Awards designates five outstanding researchers in Life and Environmental Sciences, each working in one of the following regions: Africa and the Arab States, Asia and the Pacific, Europe, Latin America and the Caribbean, North America. Each of the Laureates will receive €100 thousand. The candidate must be actively involved in scientific research in any field of Life and Environmental Sciences. International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development — Training in Earth Observation and Geospatial Information Technology
The International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development (ICIMOD) invites women to apply for a theoretical and hands-on training on the use of earth observation (EO) and geospatial information technology (GIT). The four-day course provides young and early-career women with theoretical and practical knowledge to use EO data and GIT, with real-world examples from the HKH region. The training event is open to women from the Hindu Kush Himalayan (HKH) countries: Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, China, India, Myanmar, Nepal, and Pakistan. The U.S. Government seeks to support projects that secure economic security of women in agriculture in Tunisia. Funds are available to support projects that empower previously marginalized women working in agricultural cooperatives to use innovative technical and entrepreneurial approaches to mitigate the impacts of climate change, increase profitability, and protect against food insecurity. The estimated award is US$1.5 million per year over the course of 3 years. U.S. Mission to Angola — Self-Help Program
The special self-help program of the U.S. Embassy to Angola supports small, sustainable community-based initiatives that have an immediate and strong impact on the local community. The Embassy expects to support different types of projects: from development projects such as agricultural and aquacultural cooperatives to women’s empowerment and the environment. Grants typically range from US$2.5 thousand to US$10 thousand per project. All applicants must include a significant community contribution. The JAMII Femmes initiative aims to increase the impact of African women entrepreneurs on the African economy and support the creation of innovative solutions for sustainable development.
