The U.S. Department of State seeks applications from organizations to support women’s economic empowerment in the Mekong through providing financial literacy training and support. This project should increase the access of women entrepreneurs and business owners to financing, market opportunities, and training to help establish and grow their micro, small, or medium enterprises. The Bureau of East Asian and Pacific Affairs anticipates having approximately $395 thousand of economic support funds available to support one successful application. ygap — Support for Female Entrepreneurs in the Asia-Pacific region
The yher accelerator provides support to female entrepreneurs and female-led impact ventures across the Pacific Islands region. The aim of the program is to provide solutions to poverty by empowering women. The program provides access to mentors, training and a week-long intensive training workshop. Winners of the peer review will receive AU$10 thousand in funding and the chance to apply for an additional AU$40 thousand in grant funding to help scale their venture. ShEquity — Business Accelerator for African Women
ShEquity and MBC Africa launch the ShEquity Business Accelerator (SHEBA) Program to support to African female entrepreneurs with scalable businesses in agribusiness, healthcare, technology, renewable energies, and fast-moving consumer goods. SHEBA will select 30 women to provide business development, financial management; strategy consulting, and networking opportunities. Canada’s International Development Research Centre (IDRC) announces a new funding opportunity to advance gender analysis and women’s leadership in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) fields. This initiative will support university-led consortia to expand and deepen scholarship in low- and middle-income countries, particularly in Africa, on the challenges and opportunities that women scientists experience in STEM fields. IDRC will provide CA$1 million to CA$1.25 million per research consortium. The call is open to public universities from low- and middle-income countries in Africa, Asia, or Latin America/Caribbean. Nuffic announces a grant program to develop and strengthen the skills of women and young girls. The program is aimed at professionals and organizations that provide education and training within the priority themes of the Dutch government (Water, Food and Nutrition Security, Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights, and Security and Rule of Law). Grants can be used for training initiatives and capacity building programs that address specifically the needs of women. The maximum subsidy is €75 thousand per tailor-made training. The call is open to the following countries: Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Congo (DRC), Egypt, Ethiopia, Iraq, Jordan, Kenya, Lebanon, Mali, Niger, Nigeria, Palestinian Territories, Rwanda, Somalia, Sudan, South Sudan, Tunisia, and Yemen. Climate Tracker seeks stories about female environmental activists. The project “Defenders of Territory” will select 12 women who are defenders of the environment in Latin America. Climate Tracker looks for young journalists from Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Panama, Mexico, the Dominican Republic, Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Venezuela, Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Paraguay and Uruguay, who write stories about women from local communities and their struggle to defend their land. The Fund for Innovation and Transformation (FIT) supports Canadian small and medium-sized organizations testing innovative solutions that advance gender equality in the Global South. FIT will provide CA$150 thousand to CA$250 thousand over a 6-15 month period to test solutions in partnership with local organizations in developing countries. FIT supports ideas to test worldwide (with approx. 50% in Sub-Saharan Africa). The program is open to civil society organizations, social enterprises, institutions and the private sector. The Canadian International Development Research Center (IDRC) seeks proposals for projects that will support the generation and use of relevant evidence on women’s economic empowerment in a low-carbon COVID-19 recovery in the Global South. Research projects can either be single- or multi-country studies led by organizations in one country or across countries.
