European Union — Central European Initiative, Call for Proposals 2019

The CEI makes grants to support its action plan. Cooperation projects are mainly for seminars, workshops, training courses, and other kinds of meetings. Priority themes include climate, environment, sustainable energy, and others. Projects can be submitted by all public and private bodies in CEI’s member states, as well as by international and regional organizations. Preference is for proposals submitted from CEI’s non-EU member states (Albania, Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Macedonia, Moldova, Montenegro, Serbia, and Ukraine). Grants are up to €15 thousand. U.S. Embassy Vientiane — YSEALI Regional Workshop: Agri-Biz Incubator

The U.S. Embassy Vientiane invites applications from organizations to carry out a five-day workshop in Laos on on agriculture-related entrepreneurship (agri-biz) for the Young Southeast Asian Leaders Initiative (YSEALI). The workshop will focus on building theoretical and practical knowledge about responsible, sustainable and environmentally sound agri-biz initiatives in Southeast Asia. Mobilise Action — ITC Biodiversity Conference Grant

Mobilise Action accepts applications for the ITC Conference Grants from early-career investigators and PhD students from cost Inclusiveness Target Countries (Bosnia-Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Hungary, Luxembourg, Montenegro, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, North Macedonia, Serbia and Turkey). The grants aim to support researchers to participate to the Biodiversity_Next International Conference that takes place in October in The Netherlands. The British Council announces workshops that convene UK researchers with partners in other countries. Among the workshops that have deadlines beyond the date of this posting are: Brazil, Food fraud prevention using Blockchain technology (deadline 30 May 2019); China, Low-Carbon Heating and Cooling Technologies (deadline 31 May 2019); Brazil, UK-Brazil workshop on financing urban climate-resilient development (deadline 16 June 2019); Israel, Nanoscience, Neuroscience, Agri Science, Water Science, Cyber and Antimicrobial Resistance (deadline 16 June 2019). International Fund for Agricultural Development — Reporting Rural Poverty and Agricultural Development

The International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), the specialised UN agency, funds journalists from around Africa to attend the workshop ‘Reporting Rural Poverty and Agricultural Development’. The programme aim is to enable journalists to tell the story of rural development.  Participants will have the opportunity to attend the African Green Revolution Forum (AGRF) in Kigali in September 2019. Eligibility extends to full-time journalists from across Africa. Bursaries include air travel expenses (economy class), accommodation, local transfers and meals. U.S. Department of State — Regional Workshops for ASEAN NGOs

The Young Southeast Asian Leaders Initiative (YSEALI) is a program of the U.S. government to support bright young leaders ages 18-35 in the ASEAN countries. YSEALI seeks organizations to implement a five day workshop in Malaysia to boost the strategic communication and advocacy skills of NGOs in Southeast Asia. The workshop should build capacity in working with the media and focus on human and wildlife trafficking and environmental sustainability. Funding of US$250 thousand is available. Eligible participants must be citizens from Brunei, Burma, Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Laos, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, or Timor-Leste. The application deadline is 30 June 2019. 3ie — Bursaries for attending the Evidence to Action Conference 2019

The AEN secretariat and 3ie offer bursaries to Africans for attending the Evidence to Action Conference 2019 Conference in Ghana. The 2019 conference program will focus on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Applicants from the MENA or Sub-Saharan Africa region can apply for a full bursary after submitting an abstract. The bursaries cover the cost of conference registration, air travel, and accommodation, or a partial bursary which is a waiver of the conference registration fee only. The deadline to submit abstracts is 31 May 2019 (extended deadline). Find out more

Southeast Asian Regional Centre for Tropical Biology — Training Courses, Seminars, and Workshops 2019

The Southeast Asian Regional Centre for Tropical Biology (SEAMO BIOTROP) aims to increase the knowledge and skills of ASEAN professionals and students on a wide range of topics in tropical biology. Unless otherwise indicated, training courses are conducted at the SEAMEO BIOTROP headquarter in Bogor, Indonesia. Priority is for nationals of SEAMEO member countries, especially in the sponsored courses. The remaining BIOTROP courses and seminars for 2019 are scheduled from July through October. Application forms should be submitted to the respective course coordinators at least one month in advance of any event. Link

University of Michigan — Conference on Sustainability and Development 2019

The University of Michigan seeks abstracts for presentations, workshops, and applications for financial assistance from students and scholars from lower-income countries for participation in the international conference on Sustainability and Development (11-14 October 2019). The conference themes are Sustainable Development and Indigenous Peoples, Climate Change, Agriculture, Water, Sanitation, and Health, Biodiversity and Conservation, Energy Provision and Access, among others. The Sustainability and Development Initiative supports a limited number of participants from lower income countries with small grants to cover registration, travel, and accommodation. British Council — Researcher Links Workshop: Transition to Low/Zero Carbon Transport

The British Council and the Newton Fund support the University of Birmingham and the University of Jordan to hold a workshop on the transition to low/ zero carbon transport in Amman. This workshop aims to provide a platform for knowledge exchange and collaboration between early-career researchers addressing the global challenge of clean transport in the context of Jordan.
