Israeli Agency for International Development — Course: Agricultural Development in Arid Regions

Israel’s Agency for International Development (MASHAV) offers professional short courses in Israel in subject areas that include agriculture, energy, health, education, and social development. MASHAV offers a limited number of scholarships to cover course fees, accommodation, medical insurance, and other expenses. The international course on ” Agricultural Development in Arid Regions” will focus on soil and water management,  intensive crop production and marketing systems, irrigation and fertigation, and the implementation of agro-technologies. The course is geared towards professionals from governmental and non-governmental institutions, universities, research institutes and/or private sector, from African English-speaking countries, involved in agricultural development in arid and semi-arid regions. Ashoka — ChangemakerXchange for Social Innovators in Europe & MENA

The ChangemakerXchange Summit in Spain will bring together 25 top young changemakers across civil society, media, the corporate sector, government, and more. The aim of the summit is to build a cross-sectoral network of changemakers that work together to address societal issues in a collaborative manner. Eligibility extends to participants who lead, co-lead, have founded, or have co-founded an ongoing social venture that addresses a relevant social problem, including in the theme of Environment (among others). Applicants should be based in Europe (including Turkey, European Russia and Southern Caucasus, Armenia, Georgia & Azerbaijan) or the MENA region (including Maghreb, North Africa, Middle East). ChangemakerXchange will cover the travel costs and conference costs for the event to be held in Barcelona (Spain) in May/June 2019. The application deadline is 17 February 2019. Here

The aim of the summit is to build a cross-sectoral network of changemakers that work together to address societal issues in the special theme of “Women’s Empowerment”. U.S. Department of State — YSEALI Bootcamp: Malaysia

The YSEALI Bootcamp, organized by the U.S. Embassy in Malaysia in collaboration with Me.reka and Biji-biji Initiative, is an initiative seeking innovative solutions to local challenges across the themes social entrepreneurship, sustainable development, civic engagement, and education. Interested participants must be 18 to 35 years old and demonstrate interest, knowledge, or professional experience in at least one of the main areas. Participants will receive 3-month of intensive business training/mentorship and a few selected groups will win a project grant of RM2 thousand to kick-start and implement their solutions. British Council — Workshop “Environment and Development” in Brazil

The British Council supports research workshops under the programs Researcher Links and the Newton Fund to assist early-career researchers to interact and explore research collaborations. The British Council invites early-career researchers from the UK and São Paulo (Brazil) to apply to attend the workshop “Environment and Development: Shared 21st Century Sustainability Challenges” (July 2019). Earth Journalism Network — Media Workshop on Climate Change Reporting

Internews Earth Journalism Network (EJN) seeks applications from journalists to take part in a media workshop on climate change reporting in the Bay of Bengal. The workshop will focus on climate change in the region, with a focus on how at-risk communities are responding to environmental pressures. EJN will pay for travel, accommodation and meal costs of selected participants. Journalists from print, web, radio and television are eligible. International Land Coalition — Community Land Protection

The International Land Coalition (ILC) invites applications for the second cohort of the Community Land Protection Co-Learning Initiative. The Co-Learning Initiative is designed to build a supportive cross-regional community of practice to facilitate learning between community land rights advocates. The one week-long workshop focuses on practical and proven strategies for community land protection. São Paulo School of Advanced Science — Workshop: Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services

The São Paulo School of Advanced Science on Scenarios and Modelling on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services to Support Human Well-Being (SPSAS Scenarios) will hold a 2-week training and networking session in July 2019 on scenarios and modeling in biodiversity and ecosystem services, and its relation to human wellbeing. The Advanced School will be led by speakers from several countries. Approximately 100 applicants, 50 from Brazil and 50 from other countries will be selected to participate in the Advanced School. U.S. Department of State — Youth Leadership Program with Burma

The Office of Citizen Exchanges announces an open competition to conduct a four-week U.S.-based exchange program for teenagers and adult educators. The activities for each program will focus on civic education, community engagement and prepare participants to conduct projects at home that serve a community need. Applicants should plan to provide U.S.-based programming for 17-18 youth and 2-3 adult participants from Burma. Applicants may request up to US$190 thousand in project funding.
