The Sam Moyo African Institute for Agrarian Studies (SMAIAS) and the Agrarian South Network invite participation in the 2017 First Edition of the Agrarian Studies Training Institute. SMAIAS is offering a one-month workshop and course on “Agrarian Transformations in the Global South” to be held in Harare (October and November 2017). It encourages applications from young scholars in the Global South, along with social movement activists who are engaged in agrarian policy lobby and advocacy. Liebnitz Institute for Zoo and Wildlife Research — Travel Grants for the International Conference on Behaviour, Physiology, and Genetics of Wildlife 2017
The Liebnitz Instiute for Zoo and Wildlife Research (IZW) is partnering with the European Association of Zoos and Aquaria to invite participants for the 11th International Conference on Behaviour, Physiology, and Genetics of Wildlife (October, Berlin). IZW offers travel grants up to €500 as well as free registration for the conference banquet for selected highly-qualified scientists from developing countries. CRDF Global — Conference of Asia Pacific Biosafety Association
CRDF offers travel support to early-career bioscience and veterinary professionals in Southeast Asia to participate in the conference of the Asia Pacific Biosafety Assocation scheduled for August 2017. Applications are welcome from individuals in key positions related to biosafety or biosecurity in their respective institutions and regions. Priority is for applicants from Indonesia, Malaysia, and the Philippines. Consideration will also be given to applicants from Cambodia, Laos, Thailand, and Vietnam. ASEAN Peace Project — Young Peace Builders for Climate Action
The Young Peace Builders for Climate Action is seeking thirty youth leaders from across Southeast Asia to participate in an accelerator workshop to be held in July (Quezon City, Philippines) on reducing disaster risks, adapting to climate change, and promoting peace building in conflict areas of the ASEAN countries. Eligibility extends to persons ages 18 to 25 living in or working with conflict-affected and/or disaster-prone areas in Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam. University of Tsukuba — Capacity Building Workshop on Nature-Culture Linkages in Asia and the Pacific
The Capacity Building Workshop on Nature-Culture Linkages in Asia and the Pacific, scheduled for September 2017 at the Tsukuba university campus in Japan, will develop new approaches towards integrated conservation of cultural and natural heritage. The theme is “sacred landscapes.” The workshop is open to a maximum of 15 young professionals from Asia and the Pacific region involved in the management of cultural or natural heritage sites, specifically, sacred landscapes. The workshop organizers will cover the cost of accommodation and living expenses for the selected participants; a limited number of scholarships will be available to cover travel costs.The application deadline is 07 May 2017. The Climate Systems Analysis Group (CSAG) at the University of Cape Town organizes a “winter school” intensive course, with the next one scheduled for five days in July 2017. The course is presented by facilitators from CSAG and other institutions to take participants through the full spectrum of topics related to climate and climate change, with an emphasis on issues in developing countries. The UNU Institute for the Advanced Study of Sustainability is the Secretariat for ProSPER.Net (Promotion of Sustainability in Postgraduate Education and Research Network) in the Asia-Pacific region. The ProSPER.Net Leadership Programme helps its participants to develop interdisciplinary skills for sustainable development initiatives in local, regional, or global contexts. Wildlife Conservation Network — Networking Opportunities
Each year, the WCN organizes conservation events (expos) in the USA, where wildlife conservationists discuss issues about endangered species around the world.
