Earth Journalism Network — Fellowships for Journalists

The Earth Journalism Network (EJN) announces a new fellowship for journalists interested in attending and reporting from the UN Convention on Biological Diversity (October/November 2024). Fellows will travel to Cali to attend the entire duration of the UN biodiversity negotiations and receive non-refundable economy-class airfare, accommodation, meals, travel medical insurance, and ground transportation costs related to fellowship participation. To be eligible for the fellowship, the applicant must be a professional journalist from an established media house and reporting from a low- or middle-income country. Research Institute for Sustainability — Fellow Program

The Research Institute for Sustainability (RIFS) invites applications for the RIFS Fellow Program. The Institute particularly welcomes proposals that envisage active collaboration with RIFS researchers and offers Fellows the opportunity to develop their ideas in an international community of eminent researchers, not only within the institute but also in the wider Potsdam-Berlin area. Applicants can come from a wide range of sectors such as science, public administration, the private sector, civil society, media, and the arts. Fellows will receive financial compensation to cover their additional costs of living during their stay in Germany. Climatelinks — Photo Contest

The Climatelinks Photo Contest seeks submissions that show the breadth of issues, impacts, and solutions to climate change. The 2024 Photo Contest theme is “In Focus: Communities Confronting Climate Change.” Participants can submit up to 5 photos that show local communities addressing climate change across 14 categories. Belmont Forum — Tropical Forests

The Belmont Forum aims to coordinate actions and projects with a transdisciplinary approach to develop innovative solutions to the challenges faced in tropical forest regions. The Belmont Forum will fund three-year projects. This call for proposals recognizes the growing threats to those ecosystems and their inhabitants, such as climate change, deforestation, unregulated agroindustry and land conversion, illegal activities, pollution, and environmental/climate injustices. European Climate Pact — Photo Competition

The European Climate Pact photo competition aims to showcase climate action. Photos should capture a climate-friendly daily routine, climate action, or a climate solution. The competition is open to everyone. 10 winners will receive an invite to the Climate Pact annual event in Brussels in 2025, with travel and accommodation covered. World Food Forum — Hackathon on Food Waste

The Global Youth Hackathon on Food Waste seeks passionate individuals who develop innovative, community-based solutions to combat food waste. Participants will receive mentorship and refine their proposals. Finalists will showcase their proposals and compete for the chance to win US$ 3,500. The application deadline is 30 June 2024. Earthna Center for a Sustainable Future — Prize for Environmental Stewardship

Earthna Center for a Sustainable Future (Earthna) seeks applications for the Earthna Prize aimed at celebrating and supporting projects that are working towards the preservation of ancestral knowledge and cultural heritage in addressing contemporary environmental challenges. The Prize will support work in the following areas: water resource management; food security; sustainable urbanism; and stewardship. Hello Tomorrow — Global Startup Challenge

The Hello Tomorrow Global Challenge seeks startups from all around the world that use advanced technology to answer societal or industrial challenges. The challenge includes one category for startups that focus on energy, food, agriculture & environment, among 10 others. EarthRanger — Conservation Technology Award

EarthRanger offers two grants in the amount of US$15 thousand to organizations that are deploying technology to advance their work in conservation. Any organization, protected area, and government entity working to safeguard wildlife and their habitats through tech, including but not limited to, the security of endangered animals, animal behavioral research, anti-poaching enforcement, ecological management, and human-wildlife coexistence, is eligible to apply. International Water Association — Leadership Program for Young Water Professionals

The Leadership Program for Young Water Professionals mobilizes high-potential young water professionals and aims to provide a strong foundation for building professional networks within the global water community. The International Water Association will cover travel expenses for the selected candidates to participate in an immersive retreat and to attend the 2026 IWA World Water Congress & Exhibition, in Glasgow, Scotland. The program is for early-career water professionals between 18 and 35 years old. The application period will be open until 28 June 2024. Details
