Elsevier announces the biennial Renewable Transformation Challenge. The challenge invites innovative proposals which contribute to the goal of transitioning to 100% renewable energy. The first prize winner receives €20 thousand. Eligibility to apply extends to organizations such as private enterprises, NGOs, and research institutions for undertaking projects and programs that help move the world toward an energy system supplied entirely by renewable energy sources. UNESCO — Sultan Qaboos Prize for Environmental Preservation
The UNESCO Sultan Qaboos Prize for Environmental Preservation recognizes outstanding contributions by individuals, groups of individuals, institutes, or organizations in the management or preservation of the environment. This refers to contributions in environmental and natural resources research; environmental education and training; environmental awareness; and activities to establish and manage protected areas such as biosphere reserves and natural World Heritage sites. Nominations for the Prize can be made by UNESCO member states and by international organizations, or by NGOs which have consultative status with UNESCO. International Union of Forest Research Organizations — Short Scientific Visits
The International Union of Forest Research Organizations (IUFRO) offers a limited number of grants of up to €5 thousand for short scientific visits to early-career scientists who reside in an economically disadvantaged country to visit a forest research organization overseas. The duration of the scientific visit should be agreed between the applicant and host organization and last approximately three months. Agora Energiewende — Climate and Energy Transformation
Agora Energiewende invites applications for the EnerTracks Fellowship Program. Up to eight fellows will be invited to come to Berlin (Germany) while each fellow continues working part-time for their home institution. The fellowship offers multi-disciplinary sessions covering a variety of topics such as energy markets, power system flexibility, and research methodologies, among others. Applicants must be nationals of an Official Development Aid country and be currently employed or affiliated to a think tank or other civil society organization and/or an academic body. Fellows receive a travel grant covering half of the costs of participants’ international travel expenses, accommodation in Berlin, and a modest daily stipend.
