Yale Young African Scholars (YYAS) offers an academic summer program for secondary school students from across Africa. The program offers online and in-person programs in four interdisciplinary sessions on Innovations in Science & Technology and Solving Global Challenges. Admitted participants will have access to pre-recorded videos before the start of the program and attend live sessions. There is no tuition cost to participate in the program. The Rockefeller Foundation-Acumen Food Systems Fellowship is an intensive, one-year leadership development program for food systems leaders who are creating more inclusive, nourishing and regenerative food systems. The MIT Solve program seeks passionate young innovators aged 24 and under who implement solutions that have positive impacts in their communities and the world. The Solv[ED] Youth Innovation Challenge is an opportunity to submit tech-based solutions that address one of four thematic areas: Learning, Health, Sustainability and Economic Prosperity, for example, innovations that can reduce the effects of climate change. 10 winners will receive prize funding and mentorship from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. AstraZeneca — Lead2030 Challenge for SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-Being)
The Young One World Lead2030 Challenge for SDG 3 seeks youth-led projects which tackle the causes of air pollution and focus on the long-term health of young people. Projects should focus on individual behavior change, new technologies, or multi-stakeholder advocacy approaches to change laws/policies. The challenge welcomes solutions from young innovators (18-30 years old). Ocean Foundation — Opportunity for Young Writers
The Ocean Foundation (TOF) seeks to identify young writers between the ages of 13-25 to provide curriculum writing services for the production of a “youth ocean action toolkit” focused on the seven Ocean Literacy Principles and Marine Protected Areas. The Ocean Foundation will assemble a small team of youth authors. The authors will work with members of the TOF team to create the youth ocean action toolkit. U.S. African Development Foundation — Africa Entrepreneurship Challenge
The U.S. African Development Foundation (USADF) requests proposals for the USADF Accelerate Africa Entrepreneurship Challenge. Selected African youth and women-led enterprises will receive funding in the form of grant capital of up to US$250 thousand. Projects must be innovative scalable enterprises that address local needs and have an impact on communities and livelihoods. U.S. Department of State — E-Waste Program
The FRE-E-WASTE program is a two-day workshop, followed by a co-production of a manual on e-waste for Southeast Asian environmental enthusiasts aged between 18 to 35. The program aims to raise awareness on the problem of e-waste and educate that greenhouse gasses could be reduced or avoided if e-waste were properly treated and recycled. The Global Water Partnership-Caribbean (GWP-C) invites applications to the workshop “To Save the Water…Let’s Talk About Shit”. The workshop will focus on the roles of Youth and the Media in Caribbean Wastewater Management. Participation is open to Caribbean Youth and Journalists residing in Caribbean countries. As part of the workshop, participants will also be given the opportunity to create social media content to raise awareness amongst the wider public. Organizations are invited to submit applications for a regional grant competition where selected organizations will receive up to US$62 thousand to implement their proposed climate initiatives.
