The World Around — Young Climate Prize

The World Around launches an open call for applications to the Young Climate Prize. World Around seeks young people who are working on their own self-started projects that address, draw attention to or mitigate climate change in their communities. The program will provide visibility, support and mentorship for 25 of the world’s most talented and passionate climate designers. Anyone aged 13-25 from anywhere in the world can submit their work. AstraZeneca — Lead2030 Challenge for SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-Being)

The Young One World Lead2030 Challenge for SDG 3 seeks youth-led projects which tackle the causes of air pollution and focus on the long-term health of young people. Projects should focus on individual behavior change, new technologies, or multi-stakeholder advocacy approaches to change laws/policies. The challenge welcomes solutions from young innovators (18-30 years old). The winner will receive a US$50 thousand project startup grant and 12-months of mentorship from a team of AstraZeneca Young Health Program professionals. The application deadline is 30 November 2022. Trust for Sustainable Living — International Schools Essay Competition

Every year, the essay competition focuses on a different global sustainability challenge. This year’s theme is Green Economy. Participating students are invited to submit one essay (in English) entitled “How can young people be better supported to thrive in green jobs?”. The Grand Prize trophy winner will receive a free international trip to a TSL Summit, including £500 spending money. Schools have to register a Teacher Champion to participate in the competition. Ocean Foundation — Opportunity for Young Writers

The Ocean Foundation (TOF) seeks to identify young writers between the ages of 13-25 to provide curriculum writing services for the production of a “youth ocean action toolkit” focused on the seven Ocean Literacy Principles and Marine Protected Areas. The Ocean Foundation will assemble a small team of youth authors. The authors will work with members of the TOF team to create the youth ocean action toolkit. U.S. African Development Foundation — Africa Entrepreneurship Challenge

The U.S. African Development Foundation (USADF) requests proposals for the USADF Accelerate Africa Entrepreneurship Challenge. Selected African youth and women-led enterprises will receive funding in the form of grant capital of up to US$250 thousand. Projects must be innovative scalable enterprises that address local needs and have an impact on communities and livelihoods. To be considered for the Challenge, applicants must be 100% African-owned and -managed. Applicants must submit the completed application before 30 September 2022. Conrad Foundation — Spirit of Innovation Challenge 2022-2023

The Spirit of Innovation Challenge is a worldwide competition for youth ages 13-18 to create commercially viable products or services to address issues of global sustainability. Categories include “Energy and Environment”, among others, and a special category on “Ocean Plastic Pollution”. Ideas are submitted by student teams, which can be international, if desired. There is a fee for team registration (discounted rates may apply for qualified title one schools or special circumstances). Composting Council Research and Education Foundation — Poster Contest

The International Compost Awareness Week Committee invites submissions for its annual poster contest. This year’s theme is “For Healthier Soil, Healthier Food…Compost!”. The winning poster will serve as the promotional piece of the 2023 International Compost Awareness Week and the winner will receive US$500. Ashley Lashley Foundation — Global Climate Fund

The Global HEY Climate Fund aims to assist three young climate activists with their projects. The selected projects will receive US$5 thousand each. Applicants must submit proposals or an idea surrounding the topics: Climate Change and Health, Climate Change and Gender, Climate Advocacy and Climate Entrepreneurship. Commonwealth Secretariat — Commonwealth Youth Awards 2023

The Commonwealth Youth Awards for Excellence in Development Work recognize individuals ages 15 to 29 who lead innovative development projects in themes that include agriculture, small enterprise, skills training, climate change, environmental protection, sustainable livelihoods, and poverty reduction. The program selects regional winners from each of Africa, Asia, the Caribbean, and the Pacific. Winners are awarded grants of up to a total of £5 thousand in total to advance their projects. United People Global — Leadership Training Program

The United People Global (UPG) Sustainability Leadership training program offers young leaders from all over the world the opportunity to participate in an immersive 1-week experience on an island in the USA. UPG seeks young people (18-35 years) who want to take positive action that helps the world tackle a sustainability challenge to achieve any of the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). 500 young leaders will be selected to participate in an online program and receive a certification after successful completion of the online training. 60 participants will have the chance to attend the complimentary 1-week training in the USA (all costs of the program will be covered).
