TED-Ed — Earth School

Earth School consists of 30 days of nature-focused content for learners of all ages. Each Quest includes videos and a quiz, combined with a series of engaging learning resources curated by environmental experts. Teachers and parents are invited to use these lessons and activities to keep their students and kids engaged and connected to the outside world. Lessons are free and accessible anytime. United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change — Global Climate Action Awards

The United Nations (UN) welcomes the submission activities that serve as examples of what people around the world are doing to address climate change. For 2023, the Awards seek to highlight the innovative climate action that young people around the world are undertaking to ensure their communities are more sustainable, resilient, and equitable places to live. The winners will receive a range of benefits, including fully-paid participation at the UN Climate Change Conference in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The deadline for applications is 15 October 2023. The Commonwealth Secretary-General — Innovation for Sustainable Development Awards

Innovation for Sustainable Development Awards recognize ground-breaking innovations from Commonwealth countries that contribute to one or more of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals. Each winner will receive a trophy, a certificate and a cash prize of £3,000. Nominees can be individuals, organizations, companies, charities or government bodies. Malmar Knowles Family Foundation — Youth Leadership Program

The Knowles Educational and Charitable Trust for International Leadership (Kectil) Program is a one year web-based mentoring program in youth leadership. The program consists of multiple-week modules with assignments to address issues facing youth globally. Youth (aged 17-26) from developing countries are eligible to apply. International Research & Exchanges Board — Community Solutions Program

The International Research & Exchanges Board (IREX) seeks applications for its Community Solutions Program (CSP) with the aim to improve communities by addressing issues related to the environment, among others. The Community Solutions Program is a year-long professional development program with a four-month fellowship in the United States. To be eligible, applicants must be between the ages of 26 and 39 (as of 01 January 2024). Eligible countries from Sub-Saharan Africa, Middle East and North Africa, Eastern Europe, East Asia and the Pacific, South and Central Asia, and Latin America are listed in the announcement. Royal Geographical Society — Grants with Deadlines in November 2023

The Royal Geographical Society with the Institute of British Geographers (RGS-IBG) makes grants for geographical research, fieldwork, and teaching that include several awards with deadlines in November. The deadline is 23 November for the Ralph Brown Expedition Award; Thesiger-Oman International Research Fellowships; Hong Kong Research Grant; Walters Kundert Fellowship; Dudley Stamp Memorial Award; Postgraduate Research Awards; and Geographical Club Award. United People Global — Leadership Training Program

The United People Global (UPG) Sustainability Leadership training program offers young leaders from all over the world the opportunity to participate in an immersive 1-week experience on an island in the USA. UPG seeks young people (18-35 years) who want to take positive action that helps the world tackle a sustainability challenge to achieve any of the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). 500 young leaders will be selected to participate in an online program and receive a certification after successful completion of the online training. 60 participants will have the chance to attend the complimentary 1-week training in the USA (all costs of the program will be covered). Trust for Sustainable Living — International Schools Essay Competition

Every year, the essay competition focuses on a different global sustainability challenge. This year’s theme is Nature-based Solutions. Participating students are invited to submit one essay (in English) entitled “How can nature help us achieve the UN SDGs in my community?”. The Grand Prize trophy winner will receive a free international trip to a TSL Summit, including £1000 spending money. Schools have to register a Teacher Champion to participate in the competition. Youth Climate Justice Fund — Funding for Young Climate Leaders

The Youth Climate Justice Fund seeks applications to support climate justice young leaders with trust-based funding, resources, and youth-to-youth capacity development. Groups can apply for a grant of up to US$10 thousand, which can be used for a period of 12 months. Applying networks or collectives have to be led by young people aged 35 and under and be based in Africa, the Middle East, Asia and the Pacific, Latin America and the Caribbean, or Central and Eastern Europe. United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification — Land Heroes

The United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD) supports young individuals and youth-led/based organizations making positive impacts against desertification, land degradation, and drought. Participants are invited to share transformative journeys through social media, videos, blogs, and the dedicated website, amplifying their contributions and recognizing both young men and women as critical forces for positive change. The contest is open to youth (15-35 years old) worldwide. Top finalists in each category receive a grant of US$1,000. The submission deadline is 15 October 2023. Link to contest rules
