Yale University — Young Global Scholars Program

Yale Young Global Scholars (YYGS) offers two-week academic summer programs for high school students from all around the world. The program offers four interdisciplinary sessions on campus at Yale (USA), including sessions on Innovations in Science & Technology and Solving Global Challenges. YYGS offers the opportunity for students to apply for need-based financial aid. Furthermore, YYGS will waive the application fee if it constitutes a significant financial burden for the student’s family. The application deadline is 04 January 2024. U.S. African Development Foundation — Agricultural Cooperatives in Uganda

The U.S. African Development Foundation (USADF) , invites applications for grant financing and local support from enterprises, cooperatives, and producer groups. Proposals will be accepted from registered agricultural cooperatives, producer groups, youth-led enterprises, and small- and medium-sized enterprises in Uganda. Grant awards are up to US$40 thousand. Organizations must be 100% African-owned and led. Applications have to be submitted by 08 September 2023. USADF Uganda

Global Landscapes Forum — African Youth Storytelling Contest

The Global Landscapes Forum hosts a storytelling contest for young Africans. The story should revolve around the key themes of a thriving Africa, including but not limited to food sovereignty, biodiverse landscapes, ecosystem restoration, and climate justice, among others. The three best stories will receive prizes of €500, €300 and €200 respectively. The contest is open to anyone between the ages of 18 and 35 born and/or currently living in Africa. Composting Council Research and Education Foundation — Poster Contest

The International Compost Awareness Week Committee invites submissions for its annual poster contest. This year’s theme is “Compost…Nature’s Climate Champion!”. The winning poster will serve as the promotional piece of the 2024 International Compost Awareness Week and the winner will receive US$500. Conrad Foundation — Spirit of Innovation Challenge 2023-2024

The Spirit of Innovation Challenge is a worldwide competition for youth ages 13-18 to create commercially viable products or services to address issues of global sustainability. Categories include “Energy and Environment”. Ideas are submitted by student teams, which can be international, if desired. There is a fee for team registration (discounted rates may apply for qualified title one schools or special circumstances). The winning teams are offered seed money to continue the development of their ideas. The application deadline for the activation stage (phase 1) is 03 November 2023. Link to the challenge

Khaled bin Sultan Living Oceans Foundation — Science without Borders Challenge 2024

The Science Without Borders (SWB) Challenge is an international student art competition. The theme for this year’s challenge is “Hidden Wonders of the Deep.” Students are asked to use their artistic talents to create a piece of art that highlights the beauty and importance of a marine species that is on the brink of extinction. The SWB Challenge is open to primary and secondary school students (aged 11-19 years) from all around the world. The winners will receive scholarships of up to US$500. The deadline is 04 March 2024. Global Landscapes Forum — Restoration Stewards

The Restoration Stewards program supports the work of young restoration practitioners and their teams through funding, mentorship, and training to deepen the impact of youth-led restoration projects. Teams receive a grant of €5 thousand to develop their restoration project and raise awareness among their local communities about the importance of ecosystem restoration and healthy landscapes. Projects may focus on preventing, halting and reversing the degradation of ecosystems worldwide. The application deadline is 07 August 2023. Restoration Stewards program

Faith For Our Planet — Youth Climate Fellowship

Faith For Our Planet, in collaboration with Duke University, launches a program for climate conscious youth leaders from around the world. The program targets religious leaders, climate activists and early-career professionals in faith-based organizations who wish to mobilize faith communities to combat climate change. Participants will have the opportunity to expand their networks and develop their skills to deliver an impactful faith-based climate action project. Social Shifters — Global Innovation Challenge

Social Shifters announces the Global Innovation Challenge to help young leaders and founders to solve the social or environmental issues that matter to them. The challenge seeks creative ideas, projects, and business solutions to the problems that matter to local communities and welcomes ideas from anywhere in the world. Participants compete for awards of up to US$10 thousand to deliver activities that improve lives, help communities, and protect the planet. Both ENDS — JWH Initiative

The Joke Waller-Hunter (JWH) Initiative offers grants to advance the leadership of young individuals working for or affiliated with environmental civil society organizations in developing and emerging countries. JWH especially encourages the nomination of young women and local community leaders. Grants range from €2,500 to €7,000. The next nomination deadline is 15 September 2023. Details here
