World Academy of Sciences — Samira Omar Innovation for Sustainability Prize

The Samira Omar Innovation for Sustainability Prize recognizes woman scientists from least-developed countries. The 2019 prize will be awarded to a scientist based on scientific achievements  in the thematic areas of: Clean and renewable energy; Green chemistry; Sustainable agriculture and agrobiodiversity; Plastic: degradation, pollution and microplastics; Water purification and sanitation; Climate change: environmental effects, methane contribution, carbon capture; Transportation technologies: efficiency for smart cities; Waste management; Biodiversity: the sixth mass extinction, ecosystem services, habitat recovery and restoration; and Ecological economics and planetary health. The winner will receive a cash award of US$4 thousand. Candidates should be working and living in an LDC country for at least two years prior to nomination.
